Cruise director

Hi all!

I will be departing on the Pacific Pearl at the end of this month. Our cruise director will be Zoltina J. I've heard that some people like her, and some do not.

Could anyone give any guidance as to why there is such a difference of opinion? For example, does she seem to gear entertainment to a particular audience, making others feel excluded? Or perhaps the way she presents herself?

Much thanks!

She has a certain "style" about her -- as do all of the Cruise Directors. Whether you like that particular style is basically up to you.

What I don't like about her is that -- she needs to change the record. We recently went on a Pacific Dawn cruise with her -- the last Pacific Dawn cruise that we went on before that was 4 years ago - and she was on that also. It was VERY much like "Groundhog Day!!" Her way of presentation, her jokes, the music she associates with herself ( some Sydney Rugby League team song :) ) was word-for-word the same as it was 4 years ago.

Personally I would never travel on a ship that she is the Cruise Director on again -- if I can help it!!

Barry has the essence of it. It is the same material and presentation over and over. Fun for the first time ....

I just didn't find her terribly friendly to the passengers. But maybe I was just envious of her stunning glamorous look. So maybe it was that the passengers did not engage with her as much as they do with "ordinary" folk. I hear they are still giving away thousands and thousands in the casino though. (That will make sense once you have been to a show on board!)

What was your impression the first time you had her (since you would have been fresh to her jokes then)?

She presents herself VERY well - clothing wise. She is confident and experienced but a little aloof towards passengers. I have come across much friendlier Cruise Directors on other ships.

I personally think she is great and I liked her the first time she was my Cd. Like most CDs she will repeat her fav Jokes on each cruise...no harm in that, comedians do that too.

She is now on the Pacific Pearl.

Oh my, we cringed every time we heard her after the first public display of her charm.

Most of the crew has changed on board since we sailed on the Pearl five weeks ago. Must say....not for the better.

Time to try a new cruise line.

See, I loved Zoltina-J when she was CD on our cruise. I thought she was lovely to the passengers and she is a one-eyed Sydney Swans supporter, so always had a bit of a joke about AFL (Not rugby Barry. I don't even like sport and I knew that). You could tell she was really close to her entertainment staff and the chemistry with them was fantastic.

We got the distant impression the dancers did not like Zoltina.

During the Meet the Cast yesterday they were very hesitant to answer anything regarding Zoltina.

I must acknowledge they have only worked with her for 5 weeks or so.

We have just been on the Jewel. The CD on her was Alun. We didn't see too much of him . Really disappointing. Believe me Zoltina is much better than him. But I must say when Alun sang he had the voice of an angel. Just three weeks before this cruise we were on the Pearl. Gemma was our CD. Fabulous. Rory was on her team and he was great too. The best CD we ever had on all our 16 P&O cruises was Willie. P&O let him go and I believe he is on Carnival Spirit. Lucky them.

Gemma was a gem on the Pearl. Way better than ZJ.

Rory is a funny little bugger.

I cringed when we took our first tender to the islands. Zoltina and her ego have had a recording of herself put onto the tenders. Those poor sailors must want to cut their ears off after a day of listening to than.
