kingstonKouple72 Posted December 17, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2013 what is "ultimate" HE?
wolfganghowell Posted December 17, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2013 It's a version of Texas Hold Em where you play against the dealer's hand only. You can google it to find various strategies and how to play. You don't have to have a poker face to play it! :)
sellwingri Posted December 17, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2013 It is available on Adventure of the Seas. That's actually where I first played it a couple of years ago and look forward to playing it again in March.

You don't have to have a poker face to play it! :) And the biggest difference is that Ultimate Texas Holdem is a house game that has a built-in edge for the casino. Just like blackjack, craps, slots, baccarat, etc - you will lose in the long run.
kingstonKouple72 Posted December 18, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 18, 2013 Agreed. This is just another luck game. I play poker...not bingo Sent from my SGH-I337M using Forums mobile app
wolfganghowell Posted December 18, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 18, 2013 Yes thank you. Anyone that gambles knows the house always has an edge. We treat it as Monopoly money when we walk in the door. But thanks for your words of wisdom. It's a fun game and if you play the strategy correctly, you can do better than most other table games. It helps that other players at the table can't screw up the cards - like they do at blackjack. It's hardly bingo.

I enjoy the game and on Eclipse in October I won enough over the two weeks to nearly pay for our cruise. Not at all like Bingo in my opinion but then I have not played that game since I was child. wolfganghowell Posted December 19, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 19, 2013 LOL. It happens on this site all the time. Someone asks a simple gambling question and others have to tell them how they will never win, it's throwing money away blah blah blah. I don't think that ever occurred to me before. ps - yeah Mr Wolf won enough playing it on a previous cruise to cover our entire onboard account which was considerable! ;) Hasn't happened every time but he generally does better rather than not. stuball Posted December 19, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 19, 2013 http://stephenhow.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/ultimate_holdem.png?w=720 has good strategy guide giving within 0.1 percent of optimal house edge (2.2%). Biggest mistake people make is not raising 4x early. All the player edge is in the 4x bet

I was just letting the OP know that Ultimate Texas Holdem is not like regular poker. Regular poker is the only game where the casino does not have an edge since you are playing against other players and not the house. Of course there is a small rake per pot but no edge. Good players win in the long run, bad players lose in the long run. I was by no means telling the OP that they are throwing their money away. Believe me, I have thrown plenty of my own money away in several casinos.

wolfganghowell Posted December 24, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 24, 2013 one thing Mr Wolf told me to mention is that the cruise ship ups their advantage. They burn a card and I think the pays are different.
