cruzeluver Posted December 22, 2013 #26 Share Posted December 22, 2013 Bonaire is pretty much without peer when it comes to snorkeling and diving. Absolutely incredible! There are cruises that go there, you just have to go with another line.
golfadj Posted December 22, 2013 #27 Share Posted December 22, 2013 Want to go back to Curacao. Went thee once in a winter cruise, got there at 2 pm major storm till 4 so we only had time to walk around and go over floating bridge. Want to go again when we have more time to see it in daylight. Topo Gigio Posted December 22, 2013 #28 Share Posted December 22, 2013 Thanks guys for loving my island so much. Isn't Curacao on of the best ports in the Caribbean? The whole capital Willemstad is on the Unesco World Heritage List. Usually it's only 1 or a couple of building but here in Curacao it's the whole city. heatherbean Posted December 22, 2013 #30 Share Posted December 22, 2013 So glad to read so many positive reviews for these 2 ports. We just has to rebook after our Splendor cruise got cancelled. We debated between Eastern Caribbean & Southern Caribbean. All ports would be new for us and we were leaning Eastern. However, since the Southern seemed to cost more, we went with that considering Carnival would honor our Splendor cruise rate. Now I have the Eastern Caribbean on my, vacation list for 2016!! :)
PortSideCruzan Posted December 22, 2013 #31 Share Posted December 22, 2013 I have been to most eastern and western ports several times. Also been to St Kitts and St Lucia. I'm thinking about heading south again. Would you say that Aruba and Curacao are just another beach ports or something not to be missed? Thanks Hi Geovet :) Aruba & Curacao are terrific ports! Carnival Breeze is going there, as well as Jamaica also.. I was just taking a peek at a B2B itinerary, 6 day voyage and an 8 day voyage in 2015: Feb 8 - Miami Feb 9 - Sea Feb 10 - Jamaica Feb 11 - Grand Cayman Feb 12 - Cozumel Feb 13 - Sea Feb 14 - Miami (Turnaround Day) Feb 15 - Sea Feb 16 - Sea Feb 17 - Aruba Feb 18 - Curacao Feb 19 - Sea Feb 20 - Grand Turk Feb 21 - Sea Feb 22 - Miami :)

There are cruises that go there, you just have to go with another line. Found a repositioning cruise on RCI going to all 3 (Aruba, Bonaire & Curacao) next November 1st from Bayonne NJ on Explorer of the seas. Thought that was unique so I booked it. Will be my first time to Bonaire and Curacao. Denise Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

GottaLuvCruising Posted December 22, 2013 #34 Share Posted December 22, 2013 This thread made me excited about our ports-of-call! We are doing Aruba & Curacao on the Liberty January 2015. We booked this cruise because it has a lot of sea time and actually visits ports that are new to us. Glad to read that folks have enjoyed the ports! Vanessa L Posted December 22, 2013 #36 Share Posted December 22, 2013 Thanks for all the replies! We are headed to Aruba and Curacao in August 2014 on the Breeze. I've been all over the Caribbean and have grown bored with it. Will be happy to visit new ports and enjoy those extra sea days coming home :D Dread the Breeze but looking forward to the new islands! I've been all over the Caribbean and have grown bored with it. Will be happy to visit new ports and enjoy those extra sea days coming home :D Dread the Breeze but looking forward to the new islands! We were somewhat skeptical of the Breeze as well. But it turned out to be our favorite ship. The traffic flow is great. Only crowded areas were the casino and the gym. Food options are unreal. (stay away from the eggs at buffet) Best are Guys, Blue Iguana, Italian rest for lunch (free) and wings in Red Frog Pub ($3.33), Sea day brunch and Fat Boys BBQ. You will have a great cruise with wonderful ports. Enjoy! Edited December 22, 2013 by Fla Senior
GottaLuvCruising Posted December 22, 2013 #38 Share Posted December 22, 2013 Dread the Breeze but looking forward to the new islands! We loved the Breeze, especially the previously mentioned food. Entertainment was hugely disappointing, but it was a great ship.

ibcnusoon Posted December 22, 2013 #40 Share Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) The Breeze waterworks looks like fun during the day, as far as nighttime entertainment, that may be lacking. We aren't fans of sea days and found that ships leaving San Juan were much cheaper than Miami for Southern Caribbean routes, which helps in cost differential to flying further south to SJ and a pre-cruise hotel. Would love a 7 day cruise from SJ to Tortola and the 3 ABC islands. Edited December 22, 2013 by ibcnusoon

MDSue Posted December 23, 2013 #42 Share Posted December 23, 2013 Not yet. There aren't any large vessels visiting Bonaire. But the island is well worth seeing (if only for the hundreds and hundreds of flamingos at the Goto Lake). We visited there on a Princess cruise - a great snorkeling island! gck1249 Posted December 23, 2013 #43 Share Posted December 23, 2013 yes,the Caribbean Princess stops in Bonaire, sailing from San Juan. It is a great port so unspoiled and beautiful. While speaking to people there they said the port doesn't want a lot of ship traffic, they get their tourists fr.om all over the world that stay on the island without the crowds. it was pretty funny they called us the 'pod people'' from the ship. if anyone gets the chance to visit you will enjoy it. i love the Southern Caribbean ports so much more than Eastern or Western Caribbean. FireEater Posted December 23, 2013 #44 Share Posted December 23, 2013 We tried getting there last year, but could not make it happen. Now that is in our plans for 2015 as our 2014 already has a 7 day Alaska cruise in August and a 3 day get away in February...
libtrek Posted December 23, 2013 #45 Share Posted December 23, 2013 One of the funniest things we saw on a cruise was in Curacao. We kept seeing people get back on the ship with boxes (about a case of beer size). Stopped and asked what???? Turns out it was wheels of gouda cheese. My DH had to stop at a pier store and buy a wheel. Doesn't need refrigeration until opened. Took it home in checked luggage. It was so good, but I still see DH going back on ship with "wheel" on his shoulder. At least he didn't try to take a whole box home. KenNMB Posted December 24, 2013 #47 Share Posted December 24, 2013 What is the name of the casino and where is it located in relation to where the ship is docked... The Crystal and Seaport are co-owned. Both are an easy walk from the docks. Dutch Pankoeke House is super, too. At rear of Renaissance Mall, across a small street from Seaport Casino. Enjoy! Hoping Royal Caribbean has more cruises to the ABC islands! Since it's a repositioning cruise it had to stop at one of them (PVSA of 1886), but I considered the other 2 a bonus. Of course that makes it a longer cruise as you mentioned. Denise Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Heirloom Posted December 24, 2013 #50 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Aruba is one place you'll always remember. One thing you do NOT see is a population of unhappy, impoverished people. Another you will NOT see are people walking up to you trying to sell something you don't want. NO filth or trash on their awesome beaches. NO lack of public transportation......plenty of clean busses.
