maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #176 Share Posted December 27, 2013 After lunch they brought us an after dinner liqueur to enjoy. This is a tradition in the restaurants all up and down the beach. It was quite tasty! Salud!!! Supposedly there was free wifi at the bar. We were not successful in connecting, however. Pretty soon, it was time to pack up and head back to the ship. What a nice day out on the beach! It doesn't get any better than this! A quiet relaxing day....no crowds.....great food and drink......good friends!
njmomof2 Posted December 27, 2013 #177 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Jane, lovely to see another review and this one is a B2B one so it's even better. You look as lovely as always and congrats on your retirement. I also lamented the fact that Freedom doesn't have the D/D+ dining area, as mom and I used it all the time on EX. We'll be sailing on Allure next August with the boys, and now that I'm officially D and mom is D+, maybe we can ditch the boys and hit the CL once during the trip. Looking forward to reading more of your reports.

tampadee Posted December 27, 2013 #179 Share Posted December 27, 2013 You mentioned a D/D+ area in the dining room. We will be travelling with friends who are not D or D+ (we are D). Are they allowed to sit with us in this part of the dining room?
maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #180 Share Posted December 27, 2013 The folks there called a taxi for us and we waited for about 15 minutes and one came to pick us up. We made it back to the port in good time and walked back to the ship.

maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #182 Share Posted December 27, 2013 You mentioned a D/D+ area in the dining room. We will be travelling with friends who are not D or D+ (we are D). Are they allowed to sit with us in this part of the dining room? No they can not. When we are in that situation, we just go to breakfast by ourselves and meet up with our friends later. Everybody fends for themselves for breakfast.
maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #183 Share Posted December 27, 2013 We got back to the ship between 3:30 and 4:00 and crashed!! It was dark when we sailed away and it was just beautiful!

maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #185 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Had a nice time in the CL this evening. Franca met us here tonight and brought us all a friendship bracelet. That was so sweet! Thank you Franca! This is Raj.....ever vigilant during the cocktail hours. Always making sure everyone has a seat and everyone is happy. He is truly a great Concierge! And he always had time to stop and visit with us!
maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #186 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Dinner was once again very good tonight. I believe this was a really good salad that I had tonight. I had a fabulous dessert tonight. I have never seen it before. It was some kind of hazelnut tart with ice cream. Very good!!! After dinner there was a little stroll down the Promenade: The Love and Marriage Game Show: Then a stop by the casino to visit my favorite machine. I came out another $16 ahead! Time for bed! maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #187 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Wednesday ~ Dec. 11th ~ St. Kitts Woke up this morning and it's pouring down rain!! Oh no!! Coffee ~ CL Breakfast ~ MDR......got seated right away...no problem.....but then we became invisible!!! The wait staff seemed to be in chaos. We eventually had to flag someone down for coffee.....the orange juice...then we finally got our order in.....it took a while! We barely made it to the CL to meet everybody at the appointed time of 9:30. We still hadn't packed our beach bags......but there was this weather problem. We went to Andrea and Michael's balcony to assess the situation. It looked like it was trying to clear off.....so we decided to head on out. The plan for the day was to get a day pass at the Marriott. So we get a taxi and go straight there. The sun was out by now! Yay!!
maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #188 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Our taxi to the Marriott was $3pp. The Marriott was not busy today, so that was a big plus. They were happy to have us. The day Passes are $35pp and well worth it for this property. We have been here many times and just love it. And especially today when there weren't many people here. We paid at the front desk and walked down the stairs out on to the gorgeous property. It's a beautiful place: We camp out by the pool today:
Ocean Boy Posted December 27, 2013 #189 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Once when we were on St. Kitts it poured for about 10 minutes. Our guide, Thenford Gray, assured us it never lasts more than a few minutes. He was right.:)
maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #190 Share Posted December 27, 2013 The pool area is wonderful: There was a water aerobics class going on: Great place to read and just hang out and relax!
CRUISEMAMI Posted December 27, 2013 #191 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Jane, so happy that everyone loved the bracelets!! maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #192 Share Posted December 27, 2013 We usually like to hang out at the beautiful beach here, but today we just decided to use the pool area. The beach was especially nice today, though!
maxs mom Posted December 27, 2013 Author #193 Share Posted December 27, 2013 It was my kind of day here.....no crowds!! Oh yeah!! The fairly new restaurant area: One of the bars: You must pay for any food or drink by credit card now. They found that the staff had trouble handling money. SherriZ366 Posted December 27, 2013 #196 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Sherri......Cute Triplets! I was watching that Clemson/ GA game on the big screen out by the pool on a cruise!! Bril......The violinist really makes the show! OB.....haven't seen the ice show on the Oasis. That sounds good with a sand artist. Thanks for the compliment on my boys. We see them tomorrow (they live in Charleston). I remember your writing about watching the Clemson/GA game on the big screen by the pool.
SherriZ366 Posted December 27, 2013 #197 Share Posted December 27, 2013 I hate smudges on the lens, you can't see them in bright sunlight. When you look at the pictures later at home on the computer or even back at the ship....arrgghhh. Epic is one fuggly ship, with the Frankenstein forehead.:p Love the description of Epic as "fuggly" -- my sentiments exactly. She is often in port with us when we sail on FR. We come in late and she is already docked so pulling around her gives you a view of all her fuggly features.
SherriZ366 Posted December 27, 2013 #198 Share Posted December 27, 2013 We got back to the ship between 3:30 and 4:00 and crashed!! It was dark when we sailed away and it was just beautiful! Beautiful pictures of the St. Maarten port. We will be that port with 6 other ships next month -- a bit crowded but still a great island. Love seeing the yacht at the end of the pier in your picture -- we have been in port with the Spielberg, Perelman and Bill Gates yacht on various cruises. Rare whitshel Posted December 28, 2013 #199 Share Posted December 28, 2013 Great review and pictures! We're also doing a B2B on Indy!! Well the 6 day was this past January and the 8 day is coming up this March :D so kinda a back to back. :o We're not quite Pinnacle not even Diamond, nor in a suite, but we do have the Ben and Jerrys Sweet booked so we will have access to the CL. Since one of my DD and myself are booked in the Sweet and my wife and other DD are booked in the balcony across the hall will all 4 of us be able to access the lounge? Just wondering.....
sandyk Posted December 28, 2013 #200 Share Posted December 28, 2013 Thanks for the great review so far Max's mom. We are on the 8 night on Jan 18th and we were wondering if you could tell me what night was the dinner that has mainly Italian for the entrée. We would like to book Chops that evening and would be grateful for any info. Thanks in advance.
