Visited Porta Mari on cruise ship and took Dushi Taxi from the port - $25 per person round trip for the four of us! Natasha was wonderful and really showed us a good time, was right on time also.

Snorkeling was amazing...Easy to snorkel, lots of beautiful fish...chairs available.

Great day!

How is the restaurant at Porto Marie? Nice views with good food? We are looking forward to our tour with Natasja and we are trying to finalize the details of our tour. Trying to decide if we should snorkel and eat here or try a different spot for lunch. Thanks in advance for any opinions!:)

The restaurant at Porto Marie is a beach bar type of restaurant. Nothing fancy, normal view of the beach area and decent food.

If you're looking for haute cuisine, this is not it.

The beach is excellent for snorkeling and while you're there you can grab a quick lunch.

For a nicer lunch you can head over to the neighbors at the Coral Estate. I'm not allowed to give out names of establishments here on CC, but Natasja will know.

Thanks Isa. Karakter is actually another spot I was thinking of. Or perhaps the restaurant at Cabana Beach. How would you compare the food and atmosphere at each? Thanks so much for your help!

I think Karakter is a better experience altogether.

The prices at Cabana (expecially drinks) are extremely high for the quality of dining you receive.

Thanks so much Isa! Really appreciate your help. Here is what we have told Natasja we are thinking of:

Do all of the downtown area you describe on Facebook, Liqueur Factory quick stop, souvenir shop quick stop and then head to the National Park. After there go to Porto Marie for snorkeling and then Karakter for lunch. Then back to the downtown area for drop off and end of the tour.

Not sure where the flamingos would fit in but that would be great too.

Anything you would change? Anything we have overlooked that you think would be important to see our first time to the island?

We are so looking forward to this!

The flamingos are at Willibrordus, on your way to both Porto Marie and Karakter. If you're coming from Shete Boka national park, she will take a different road through San Sebastian, but just tell her you want to see the flamingos at the Willibrordus salt pans.

Your plan is excellent. If you have time after Shete Boka, ask if she can stop with you @ Grote Knip for an amazing photo op. The background will be so beautiful, you might just use the picture as your next X-mas card;).

Would you recommend

Porto Marie over Seaquarium/Mambo beach? Husband is diving so trying to decide where we can all be happy. The Dive Bus and for them and Seaquarium for us or Porto Marie for all of us. Recommendations?

I have a question about Porta Marie. A group of us was there last April 2013. I found the snorkeling was pretty good but the place itself was a bit run down. The doors were off on the dressing rooms, the place smelt like sewage. It was really run down. We will be back in Curacao in Jan. with a different group and I would like to know if they have cleaned Porta Marie up, before I suggest it to some new cruisers. Thanks.
