Airport transportation MSY to hotel

We are eager for our upcoming cruise from New Orleans next week. There are four of us who will need transportation. Checking on line it appears that a taxi shared by 4 is a bit cheaper than an airport shuttle which surprised me. Do any of you have experience in this area ? Many thanks for your advice.

For one or two people, the airport shuttle is probably cheaper, but taxi for four probably is. The shuttle is priced per person, and the taxi is per taxi.

We had four of us in April and the taxi was easy and least expensive I could find as well.
