Mardi Gras Parade Schedule 2014

Mardi Gras Season starts on January 6 and this year, Mardi Gras Day (aka Fat Tuesday) is on March 4, 2014.

If you are going on a cruise out of New Orleans, be aware that you may need to get from your hotel to the cruise ship and plan your schedule and route around the Mardi Gras parades.

Also in March, there will be St. Patrick's Day Parades and St. Joseph's Day Parades.

Thanks for the posting. We are arriving Wed Feb 26 and boarding our ship Sat Mar 1. Love New Orleans but we want to avoid this mass crowds on Mardi Gras itself. I am planning on buying grandstand seats (premium) for Fri Dec 28 as I understand the restroom issues can cause discomfort. I think Thu we can take our chances and find a place near public stores where we can purchase something and use the facilities.

Is this a good plan?

Not a good plan. Many places, even with purchase will not allow you to use the restroom. When you find ones that allow pee with purchase the lines will be LONG. Be prepared to use a portapotty. Carry hand sanitizer, a pack of tissues and learn to hover over a toilet seat.

Harrah's Casino is just off the downtown parade routes.

No "puchase" necessary.

Do you know if this is the case during Mardi Gras season? The rules change in New Orleans for all businesses during Mardi Gras. Businesses have extra security stationed at their doors. Bathrooms are treated like gold during Mardi Gras season!

Also, like Nolatravelgirl stated, some do not even allow bathroom use with purchase. You can waste a lot of time just looking for a bathroom and then after finding one (if you can!), the line will be very long.
