Trolley stop near Carnival Pier

I have read that the best way to catch the free trolley is to walk to the left when you exit the pier and the trolley stop is near a subway shop. Can anyone tell me if that is where Carnival docks. My husband is 77, walks with a cane and would have trouble waiting a long time for the trolley if there was a long line.

We were there last month and walked over to the trolley stop, it was considered stop #1 just off the waterfront. However, 2 trolleys pulled up and were already full.

I'd walk down the street along the waterfront and find the last stop for the trolleys returning from down the hill before they make the turn to start back up the hill.

We gave up and jumped in a taxi van that quickly found another group looking for a tour. Traffic was horrendous on a Sat. evening and we were dropped near the bottom of the big hill of El Morro; actually beat the trolley up there, too.
