cruising4marrige Posted December 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2013 I have been reading lots of stuff on these boards but have not found an answer to one question I have. What is the situation with car seats in cabs on Nassau? I am pretty safety conscious with my daughter when it comes to her being restrained in automobiles. I don't really want to lug a car seat around the island but I am not real comfortable with her being unrestrained. Are there cabs that already have car seats or is it something I should not worry about? Again, the question mainly pertains to Nassau. Thanks in advance for any replies! It's my understanding that in foreign ports (where there are no car seat laws), it most likely that the taxis and rental cars may not even have seat belts, much less car seats. Rare Scrapnana Posted December 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2013 From what I have read, there is no law about this in the Bahamas. Chances are very slim that any taxi will have a car seat as they take up too much space.
Ex techie Posted December 30, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) A quick google search brings up this CC recommendation from July this year: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1788780 http://www.sandrastaxibahamas.com/ HTH's! ex techie Edited December 30, 2013 by Ex techie
Loonbeam Posted December 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 30, 2013 In pretty much any port, if you want to be sure of a car seat, pre-book with a reputable company that handles such requests. It is very rare to see them as standard equipment.
Lady_Jag Posted December 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2013 How old is your daughter? Is she big enough for a booster? We purchased an inexpensive Graco booster when we started cruising with our DD. It was light enough to carry with us or (when she still fit a stroller) bungee to a stroller while in port. Most cabs had seat belts, and those that didn't, we politely declined. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
NeBemom Posted January 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 3, 2014 If she old enough for a booster try a inflatable booster. Bubble bum. Super easy and safe. http://www.amazon.com/BubbleBum-Inflatable-Portable-Booster-Purple/dp/B003GQ0LQ8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388711070&sr=8-2&keywords=bubble+bum+booster+seat
