As usual we totally agree with Pam.

 

Having lived in Africa for many years and travelled widely throughout the third world as well as virtually every corner of this globe without a single bout of gastro-intestinal malaise, her advice is spot on.

 

Most "Delhi Belly" is the result of water borne infectious organisms rather than food borne. If one eats properly cooked food and avoids fresh produce, such as lettuce and non-pealed fruits. etc., they can avoid the dreaded "touristas"

We were on a cruise to the western caribbean two weeks ago (week before xmas). In Coz they had a dog that was sniffing for food as we left the pier. When returning to the ship we had to go through Mexican screening before being allowed on the pier to return to the ship. The ship was not doing the usual screening since the Mexicans were doing it. I had only seen this in Jamaica before and have been to Coz many times on a ship. This is something new in Coz. It looks like the Mexicans are getting serious about security.
