kellyntx Posted January 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2014 I was wondering what the weather is usually like in January on a Western Caribbean cruise? I am going to start packing and any help would be appreciated. I don't really do a lot of shorts. I usually do capris and such. Is it usually too cold to swim as well? Thanks in advance. Rena921 Posted January 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2014 We did the Western Caribbean out of Mobile in February a couple years ago. It was only cold embarkation day. As soon as we got to Mexico, we were in the 80's & 90's. The water was a little cooler, but not bad at all. Perfect weather IMO.
kona_wahine Posted January 2, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2014 We did Cozumel, costa maya, Belize. And Roatan first week of February 2013 and the weather was fabulous. Shorts the whole time.
Ehpride Posted January 2, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2014 I did a western caribbean cruise last January. It was hot most of the time and I did plenty of swimming. On the last sea day, it got a little cool, but it was okay because we needed to pack anyway.
*Cassie* Posted January 2, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) A few years back we did Cozumel and Progreso out of New Orleans in January. Embarkation day and the sea days were cold, to me at least. I always wore a jacket while sitting out on the Lido. Although, it didn't stop people from laying out in swim wear, getting in pools or riding the slides. So I guess it's whatever you can tolerate. The days in Mexico were gorgeous, though! So I would be prepared and pack some warmer clothes in case it's a little on the chilly side for you. Edited January 2, 2014 by *Cassie*

We've been cruising the end of January for several years now. Western, Eastern, Southern Caribbean. The weather has always been very pleasant and not too humid. You'll be fine in capris or shorts. kellyntx Posted January 2, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted January 2, 2014 Thank you so much for all the input. I was so hoping to take advantage of the pool area etc. This helps a lot.
latitude918 Posted January 2, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 2, 2014 going to weather.com and putting your ports of call into the search box will give you a more accurate answer than anything we can provide. We could say "hey it was sunny the whole time" and your ports could be calling for rain...just saying.
