Caribbean beaches.

Unsure which beaches to visit when visiting St. Lucia and Barbados. More or less narrowed St. Lucia down to Choc beach or Reduit at Rodney Bay. Would like a beach fairly close to the port at Barbados. Any recommendations/advise would be appreciated. Quite happy to try local buses. Thomson Beach transfers are quite short and like the flexibility of doing on our own. Thank you:)

We find the west coast beaches the best in Barbados, you can get a bus or a cab, however there is the beach close to the port which is fine. We spent a day at the Hilton hotel. We got a day pass for $25 each and enjoyed lunch and a drink. There is also the beach club which is quite good fun hope this helps.

We went to Reduit Beach on the local bus but we were berthed in the centre of Castries not at the Cruise terminal on the edge of town. Where we picked up the bus was close to the port exit but I'm not sure if you can pick it up by the Cruise terminal or if you'd have to walk into town. We got off at the shopping mall then walked towards the beach but couldn't see a way in so went to ask at a hotel and they just said go though the hotel. It was lovely and had good facilities and beach furniture. A lovely spot but I can't remember what we paid for loungers. I'd go there again but it might take be worth checking out a taxi especially if you can share.

Carlisle Bay is walkable from the port in Bridgetown about 30 minutes and level walking. There are several beach bars along the beach and furniture is available for hire. It's good for bathing. We love Accra Beach which has a more typical Caribbean look with a fringe of palm trees but that's a half hour bus ride (from the bus station in the centre of town) - again perhaps a taxi would be the easier option. Holetown can be reached by bus too - another lovely beach adjacent to the resort where the celebs go. The bus for this destination goes from the bus station near the port before you get into Bridgetown (not the same one as for the Accra Beach bus) . It takes 30/40 minutes but the service might not be too frequent being Sunday.

Thanks for the reply, it sounds nice. Were the lunch and a drink extra?

Can't remember where we berthed previously on Destiny in 08. We took a taxi tour then but fancy a beach day this time. Thanks for the detailed reply. With help from you we've made our own way to Pompeii and Monte Carlo in the past.:)
