citygirl62 Posted January 9, 2014 #76 Share Posted January 9, 2014 Wearing a lanyard reminds me too much of work. I always carry a small crossbody bag with my camera, card, tissues, lip gloss, etc. Same here, I don't like those things around my neck.

reesa817 Posted January 13, 2014 #79 Share Posted January 13, 2014 I had one with the plastic sleeve a few cruises ago and never again lol. I walked up the stairs to one of the top decks outside looking for some of the people I was with and as soon as i reached the top step it was so windy up there that I felt the lanyard almost fly over my head. I grabbed it as quick as I could, I saved the lanyard but my drivers license and my sail and sign card flew out of it. We searched all over the place looking for them and couldn't find them. I was so worried I wouldn't be able to get off the ship the next day but Luckily this was the first cruise that I actually had a passport.
mzloolue Posted January 13, 2014 #80 Share Posted January 13, 2014 I don't like having crap hanging from a rope around my neck. But some people like it. I either put it in my pocket or in my camera case. I carry my camera quite a bit as I never know when there might be something I want to photograph. candigirl Posted January 14, 2014 #81 Share Posted January 14, 2014 During the day or in port I wear my S&S card on a lanyard. I've collected quite a few and really like them. In port I usually tuck it in or secure it to my beach bag. And at night I usually put it in a small evening bag. To each their own. Don't laugh, but I take my own hole punch so my card gets punched just the way I like it. I don't like the plastic sleeve. It is not difficult to put your card in the scanner getting on and off the ship. Several of my lanyards have a quick disconnect portion that might make scanning easier for some folks. Many are as pretty as jewelry.
near the beach Posted January 14, 2014 #82 Share Posted January 14, 2014 We use to use the lanyard with the plastic card holder when we were able to purchase drink, soda and photo coupons. We kept the coupons in the card holder with our sail & sign card. Now we just attach our sail & sign card with a punched hole directly to the free lanyard from the casino. On cruise elegant night or when we are off of the ship they are carried in our pockets.
Nadersmom Posted January 14, 2014 #83 Share Posted January 14, 2014 Last year I found one of those little key holders with the retractable cord. I think I found it at Michaels. It had a clip to clip to the side of your pants, and the coil itself that held the retractable cord was only about 1-1/2" diameter and had sparkly stones on the outside of it. The cord was thin like fishing line. I had the card punched, put it on the key ring and attached it to the hem of my pants. I made sure that the clip for my pants was very stiff and a tight fit, and never had a problem with it coming off. Then, if I had pockets in my pants, I would slip the card inside my pocket, but I knew it that if it came out of my pocket, it wasn't going anywhere. Sometimes, if my pants had no pocket and I didn't want it dangling against the outside of my shorts, I'd just tuck the card just inside my waistband. This worked like a charm. I could just grab the card when I got to the room, pull it on the cord, unlock the door and it would retract back and I'd tuck it back in my pocket. The cord was even long enough to stretch into the machines in casino and I could just pull it out for the staff when they needed to scan it to get off the ship. Mysticks1 Posted January 14, 2014 #84 Share Posted January 14, 2014 I like using one of these water safes because I hate carrying a purse onboard and don't always have pockets. Yes it is a little more bulkier than some but after the first couple of hours of wearing it I really don't pay attention to it and I think it is more secure than the pouch type. This one is just big enough to carry your SS card, DL , CC and a little cash in it. It is waterproof and floats so you can have it on the beach or in a pool. I also put my receipts for drinks or onboard purchases in it so I can check my account against the receipts. You can buy different colored ones so I have 3 different ones for each of our cards. http://www.amazon.com/Witz-See-It-Safe-Case-Clear/dp/B005RQUAJS/ref=sr_1_2?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1389707376&sr=1-2&keywords=water+safe+waterproof+for+id
Troy McClure Posted January 14, 2014 #85 Share Posted January 14, 2014 I am a recent lanyard person.... never used one until my last cruise. I had my kids with me ( granted they are 24, 19 and 17) and new none of them would have pockets. I was really tacky and just got the thing punched in the casino and used the players club clip. My DW did bring lanyards and the girls used them but I was too lazy and the cruise was too short for me to care. Here is an interesting thing... we did not bring our own hole punch event thought I told the DW to pack one. The Casino refused to punch a hole in my 17 yo's card. We explained we didn't the players club clip..just a hole..still a resounding NO... we went to the gift shop and the punched it for us.
