I bought one for me with a plastic sleeve. (Beaded like a necklace) I like to carry a little casino cash with me so slip it in the plastic. Only issue is to use it you have to take it out. DH has one that you put thru hole. He is usually the one to open up our room. Lol

When it comes to you S&S card. Do you prefer a lanyard that has a plastic sleeve your card goes into, a lanyard that your card get punched and it attaches directly to the card? Neither? Or something else?

I prefer to just carry the card in a pocket, don't like things around my neck. Wife like getting a hole punched in hers because she goes to the casino

Easier to have lanyard directly attached to S&S card. With a holder, the card has to be taken out when you get off/on the ship, or buy anything on board (the card may be needed to be swiped) - one exception, when buying a drink from waiters, then they just write down the folio #.

The one time we had the plastic pouches they ripped.

Now we punch holes in our cards. Many times I have taken the coil off the casino supplied lanyard and clipped the card to my belt loop.

Neither.

I always have pockets, and 90% of the time my wife's card is in my pocket as well.

That's the problem. Most women's clothes do not have pockets. And if they do sometimes they are nonfunctional.

I use a lanyard, purchased on the ship.

The 1st lanyard I purchased had blues crystals, very cute. The manager of the duty free store in Mexico offered to purchase it from me. It was for an employee that wanted the exact lanyard but couldn't find it. So I sold for an additional 10% off our purchase and a Jose Cuevo iPad cover.

DH and I wear waterproof scuba card cases when wandering the ship or in port. We can fit our S & S card, credit card, DL and some cash. They're under our shirts so they don't flop around and get in the way. In the evening DH carries his in a pocket and I usually have a small evening bag or wristlet that I have mine in.

I like it punched so it stays. 2 cruises ago I got the carnival one that you can detach from the main so you don't have to drag it off over your head. I put my license in the sleeve for our safe. walking around checking out the ship, the wind blowing so much that it actually swung that thing around that it came right off!. I wasn't worried, I had my passport and new that security would get me in the safe. and what was cool was it didn't go flying off into the ocean as I was thinking, it was found and turned into guest services :) so if you use it and are walking around upper decks, tuck that puppy in lol.

...UGLY...TACKY....YUCK

(Just like fanny packs and gold chains.)

I wear a cross on a gold chain that my parents gave me for my 1st communion when I was 10 years old. I haven't taken it off since. It signifies a defining moment in my life when some life altering changes were made.

My apologies. I didn't know it was tacky to people like you. I'll make sure that it stays tucked under my shirt at all times.

I know that not everybody that wears a gold chain does it for reasons like mine, but don't be so quick to judge others and label them as tacky.

So sorry Tapi. I did not mean to insult you. This is not what I was referring to. I meant those thick gold chains that men wear with their "wife beaters" or open shirts down to their belly buttons. (very popular in NYC). I, myself wear a cross on a gold chain. I should have been more specific. Again...my apologies.

When we're in the casino, we have them on the lanyards. That way we don't leave them in the slot machines. Ever go into a land based casino, 99% of the people in there have their cards on a lanyard.

When we aren't in the casino, we carry ours in our pocket. DW still uses a fanny pack and if people don't like it, they can turn their heads. I don't know why all of a sudden people think they're so wrong. As another poster mentioned, most women's clothes don't have functional pockets. What are they suppose to do, carry a purse around with them while in a port. My wife doesn't even own a purse.

I know at night I'll have a purse...so I wasn't thinking so much of that. I was wondering during the day, walking around ship...I know DH has pockets in his swim suit and when we are at a hotel he just keeps it on him when he goes in the pool. So I'm sure he will do that same if we go swimming. Interesting all the reasons and variations.

BTW- I do own a fanny pack and DO plan on bringing it. I feel better having that around my waist then a bag over my shoulder. Just personal preference and it prolly something I will always have with me when travelling.

We use the lanyards with the plastic sleeve. I bought them on Ebay about 7 years ago. Still using them. They work well to hold S&S card and card to open safe, plus a little casino cash. They also are good for keeping receipts in that you get from things we buy like drinks and the shops. I don't care for the lanyard flapping around when up on a windy deck, so mine is usually tucked under my shirt. I just don't use the lanyard when we get dressed up for supper. It just looks tacky with fancy clothes.
