Day trip from Marseilles

We will port in Marseilles and would like to take a day trip to other small charming towns. Any suggestions on towns to visit and guides?

we did a private tour with 4 others - Avignon, les Beaux and St. Remy - we also visited St. Paul de Mausole - the sanitarium where van Gogh stayed - where he got the inspiration for "Starry Night" from the view outside his window.

 

It was a wonderful day.

We loved Les Baux. Wish that we had more time to explore! Avignon was nice as well.

I don't think you can go wrong with a visit to Cassis. A very nice charming town

We used tour.designer@provence-travel.com. They customized a tour for us and it was absolutely wonderful. We visited Luberon area and Aix in Province.

We will be in Marseille in June. We wish to go to Cassis by either train or bus. Did you travel by either of those? Any information would be appreciated.

How did you get to Cassis from Marseille?

I am contemplating 2 different tours in Maseille the beginning of September. One goes to Avignon, St Remy & Les Baux and the other goes to Aix-en-Provence & Cassis. Which would be a better option and why? Your input is appreciated.
