I spent last weekend in Galveston but don't recall exactly what's around the La Quinta (I was at a different hotel). I do recall that that part of the seawall has loads of places to eat. I'll bump this so maybe one of the locals can help you out.

Strongly recommend Fish Tales. We ate there twice last weekend and really enjoyed it. Food was good and the prices were reasonable.
