Carriage Tours in Victoria

DH and I plan to take a 90 min-2 hr tour round Victoria (carriage not Trolley) - anyone had any experience of doing this _ I see operators like Tallyho and Victorian Carriages have websites. If you have done it - did you book in advance or did you do it once you came ashore and if so where. I have heard the carriage operators will pick you up at the Quay but I am a little worried they might shorten the sightseeing to compensate for this.

Any hints, tips or recommendations would be very welcome

Every time I have been in Victoria and approached the carriages, they are booked for the next couple of hours. Given the short time span most cruises have in Victoria, I would pre-book, and have them pick me up at the ship. Everyone else waiting for the bus will be green with envy! Enjoy!
