DisneyFamily123 Posted January 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) First time snorkeling. Plan to be in the water about 1 hour. Is that enough time? Just want to try it out and see some fish. We have our own snorkeling gear but would like to skip fins so less to carry. Is there plenty of fish to see right off the shore without really swimming far? Or should we bring fins? Any other tips? Thanks! thebaddruid Posted January 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2014 I was there about 2 years ago and the reef is just down a few steps right at the shore line. It was an amazing amount of fish and they are mostly within about 20 to 100 feet of shore. My whole family enjoyed everything we did there plus we did the dolphin encounter and got a bonus of getting in with the manatees and sharks. Rare S.A.M.J.R. Posted January 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) How's this for seeing some fish? Here's the access to the snorkling area... There's also things to see underwater (these pictures were taken from the surface... the locations are marked with buoys): Edited January 20, 2014 by S.A.M.J.R. Rare skittl1321 Posted January 20, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 20, 2014 Fins would definitely help, but we didn't bother with them and we had a fabulous time snorkeling.
hdowney Posted January 21, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2014 I always wondered how you go under the water with a snorkel? I have snorkeled before but only on the surface Sent from my GT-I8730 using Forums mobile app

Yep. Double points if you manage to nail your companion with the ejected water. :D
