Feb. 2015 will be my first cruise on the Oasis out of FLL. :) I would be interested in knowing what the must do/must see activities, venues, restaurants, menu choices, etc are for this ship. I don't want to miss out on anything! Also, do you have any secret tips or helpful hints for the Oasia? Thank you in advance!!

Try to book all of your entertainment before you sail...water/diving show is a must and goes quick...and can be seen from "hidden" balconies with a better view than from below in the standard seating area IMHO.

I second the hidden balcony suggestion. Also, if you are interested in the speciality dining look into the various packages offered. We were on the Oasis last week and had the Chefs package. We thoroughly enjoyed the chefs table and 150 Central Park. Park cafe has good food for breakfast and lunch. Also Johnny Rockets is good for breakfast. We went to the Solarium for lunch on he day we boarded and it was excellent. Watch the morning show on TV given by the cruise director Brooks.

The railing posts and railing are the only obstructions (as the rest is glass).. just like the room's balcony railings.. i would think it would be just fine to watch from a wheelchair.. they probably have areas in the aqua theater for wheelchairs during shows though..

That is a great video find.

 

I don't have a photo of the door but i recall there possibly being a threshold to get over with a wheel chair.

The Aft balconies are unfortunately not 100 % accessible. There is no ramp to get out there and a high lip for the door. A wheelchair can get over the bump with difficulty and power chairs not at all.

Plan and do it all and if you cant book another cruise on the oasis/allure its a great experience.

Some of my favorite things to do on the Oasis of The Seas

 

1) sitting on the couches in Central Park after dark and looking up at the stars or running through central Park with an umbrella in the rain.

2) Doing full tilt formal night with tux and gown and drinking Martinis on the Riding Tide Bar

3)riding the carousel in tux and gown

4) sitting in the cantilevered hot tub and looking out to sea at sunset

5) Chilling out in the Solarium

6) the 70s dance party is a hoot-way too much fun

7)If you do only one restaurant, make it 150 Central Park and ask to be seated in the royal chairs

There is also the sun deck, forward on port side, go all the way to the front of the ship. There is a auto opening door.

 

Are you a Crown & Anchor Society member? if so what level?

As there are some events you can attend and you will get an invite in your stateroom.

 

Ice skating show is also great and there is a new party on the last night of the cruise called a "Glow Party" ... it starts after 10pm in studio B .... 45 minutes of the latest music and dancing... lots of fun.

 

Chops Grill restaurant is great, try the oysters or mushroom soup as a starter, the fillet mignon and then the brulee or choc mud cake for dessert. We cruised for 2 weeks on oasis in december and went to chops twice because we loved it so much.

 

Make sure you observe everything you can, there are surprises everywhere.

I second all of these. If you are looking for a romantic moment, take an evening walk through Central Park during Formal Night. My wife and I did that and the cello/violin duo were playing out there. We got a nice after dinner drink and sat in the beautiful park listening to wonderful classical music. Very romantic. Then we went to the Promenade and hit the 70's party!

As for the Aquashow, I prefer the seats to the hidden balcony.

Get tickets for Comedy Show. Very small venue and hard to standby for.

If you get tickets for a show and want to go a different time, just go and standby

Don't miss the zip line.

You'll have a great time and realize you just can't do it all.

Must know tips:

 

Reserve Entertainment ahead of time! (Like now). Use the precruise planner on the RCI site. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/before...&pnav=4&snav=8

 

Only do what you want, do not try everything. The ship has something for everyone, not everything for everyone.

 

Get onboard before the crowd. RCI says boarding is 2:00. You can normally get on by 11:30. Your stateroom may not be ready though, but should be ready by 2:00.

 

Book excursions ahead of time. The excursion desk is crowded on the Oasis. (precruise planner)

 

Sign Waivers in Advance. (precruise planner)

 

Do online check in.

 

Take medical precautions before the cruise. (Starting a week before each of my cruises, I take cold remedy every day to prevent cabin confinement.)

1. Catch sail away from above the bridge (Deck 14 Forward Left Side)

2. Have lunch at Park Cafe (Central Park - Deck 8)

3. Watch a performance of Hairspray (Opal Theater - Deck 4)

4. Relax on a "secret balcony" (Decks 11, 12, 14 AFT)

5. Ride the Carousel (Boardwalk - Deck 6)

6. Enjoy a burger and fries/onion rings at Johnny Rockets (Boardwalk - Deck 6)

7. People watch from the Rising Tide Bar or let the people watch you! (Royal Promenade - Deck 5)

8. Bask in the sun on the second floor of the Solarium (Deck 15)

9. Don't miss the ice skating spectacular Frozen in Time (Studio B - Deck 4)

10. Walk the track and pause (chairs available) at the back of the ship (Access from stairwell on Deck 5)

Book your viewing of the Aqua show for early in the cruise. Sometime it's postponed for later on during the week. If you book for a later show, and there's bad weather you may miss it altogether! Just an excuse to go back!

 

Try to find all the small wonders throughout the ship. Some look like small binoculars; others like upside down brass telescopes. Look inside for the surprise! I know there are a couple on the Royal Promenade and one outside the casino (aft entrance).

 

I loved the sundeck (all the way forward on deck 14), but it could be very windy there. But nice and quiet.

 

I don't know if anyone mentioned that the Johnny Rocket's breakfast is free, but there is a cover charge ($4.95) for lunch and dinner. That includes all food, but you do have to pay for soda or shakes.

 

So exciting to be sailing on Oasis. You'll have to try Allure next!
