According to the August 2005 Edition, The Top 10 Major cruise lines are

2. Radisson Seven Seas Cruises

3. Oceania Cruise Line

4. Disney Cruise Line

5. Celebrity Cruise Line

7. Holland America Line

8. Cunard Line

9. Orient Line

10. Royal Caribbean Internationl

Not sure about the high ranking for Disney and Holland. Fans of Royal Caribbean should feel validated, noting that Carnival did not make the list.

I would not call Orient a major line as they only have one ship. Wonder what they based their criteria on?

What a silly list. Seriously, ranking Disney and Radisson against each other on the same list? What do you compare them on? Apples and Oranges I'm afraid. And Orient line vs RCCL? They are so different, aside from both being ship-based vacations there's little in common. Rankings are dumb when the industry has become so segmented.

I think a cruise line should have a minimum number of ships in their fleet or itineraries to be counted. Come on what is a cruise line with two ships. RCCL does more things for more people than Disney could any day. RCCL has ships all over the world offering many different Itineraries. What does Disney offer, Two itineraries. Even Carnival (who didn't make the list) should be ahead of Disney.

 

I am not saying that a cruise line with few ships should not be considered on this list. But I do think a cruise line with few ships and few itineraries shouldn't make the list.

Looks to me like a list of most expensive to least expensive.

I wouldn't put anything into this poll. I went to their website and read how it was conducted. More or less open to the people who subscribe to their magazine. It wasn't very scientific nor did it represent a good cross section of cruisers. It was just their subscribers who took the time to vote.
