SuperBowl

Hi

Leaving on Feb 2nd on the Breakaway. Do you think they will play the Superbowl anywhere on the ship ???

Thanks

Any time we have ever been on NCL (or any other line) they have always shown the Superbowl. We will be on the Sun this year but since the Patriots didn't make it We won't bother to watch. NCL usually makes a big thing of it with special "snacks", some times showing the game on a big screen in the main theater. Once we actually were able to view the game in our room.

Without a doubt, it will be on every where. I suggest right after the muster drill go look for a good spot to watch the game, O'Sheehans comes to mind or the Spice H20 deck big screen.

Kevin. We'll be cruising with you on Feb 2. They will for sure be showing the super bowl in the Atrium. You can either sit in the Atrium or sit upstairs in O'Sheean's at the bar or on the rail that overlooks the Atrium. The screen is very big so the players are larger than life which is fun. As another poster mentioned, NCL will bring the Super Bowl Party to the atrium with chips etc. Im sure that most bars will have it on as well. On the Jewel last year they did have it on the TV's in our cabins..

This is what I was going to add... NFL games aren't typically available in the staterooms... for obvious reasons.

What are the obvious reasons???

Does NCL not carry FOX and the other network stations like the other lines do?

Kevin, It sure beats paying the prices there charging for tickets! I bet there will be one big party on the Getaway that day, which will be docked right next to us in NYC.

I think the Getaway will be docked in NY serving as a hotel for the week. Its great we get to see her up close and then sail away to warmer weather..

Hi, I am also going to be on the Breakaway, feb 2, not a football fan, but doubt it would be shown outside at Spice with the "polar Vortex", hanging around for the next 2 weeks! Hope we can have our sail away party?, outside:eek::eek::eek:, but I for one can't wait to get out of the frozen apple for a week:cool::cool::cool:

I agree. Where would they have the sail away party if they do not have it at Spice?

Just off the gem. Last sunday they showed both playoff games in the atrium. Thry had popcorn and chips and salsa setup as well as buckets of beer to purchase. Many people brought snacks from blue lagoon. It was also on tv in cabins Fun party atmosphere.....

I don't know how folks are getting to the pier, but allow extra time. It will be interesting to see how much parking they leave for the Breakaway passengers. I think that area is a 4 day party spot for the Superbowl, and I'm guessing security in and out of the city will be higher. Leave extra time.

I'm 5 miles from the stadium, and avoiding that area like the plague!

Vortex, I don't like football either but I hang out and have a few drinks, the energy is fun. I may also slip away into the casino. ; ) Im still praying for better weather. I sailed out of NYC one year in Feb, it was 60 degrees at sail away.. Not likely, but I can dream. Looking at another storm next week here in NJ. Lets hope Florida warms up too, its been in the 60's around Port Canaveral.

Good Point, Im leaving early, I would rather sit in the terminal for a bit rather than miss the ship! Who thinks we'll be leaving late that day?

We are from Jersey and from what I hear another big snow storm is going to be here the Friday before we leave.....so sick of winter already. Fingers crossed on warmer weather down south.

You should be real early or real late. The area around the Manhattan Cruise Port on Superbowl Sunday will have very tight security. Not only Bud's rental of the Getaway, two super yachts (about another 600 people each). Bud's also rented out the entire Intrepid complex, building a 1,500 person outdoor arena and another outdoor event space. Add all the people getting off and on the Breakaway it is going to be a madhouse.
