Hotel advice needed!

Hello,

I know.....another hotel thread but this is our first time staying overnight in Miami (in a long while!) We are looking at the Hampton Inn & Suites Blue Lagoon and have read the TA reviews and it appears that it's a decent place to stay.

Is there anything to do around there? For those of you who shop, are there any malls within walking distance? We won't have a car.

Is there a better place we should stay at? We were also looking at the Residence Inn Miami Airport and the Marriot Miami Airport and to throw in something completely different, the JW Marriott Marquis (I like how the hotel looks but it is essentially for just one night!!!)

Thanks in advance!

Within walking distance of the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon there is a small (strip) mall with a Chinese restaurant and a small grocery store. There's a Walgreen's and also a McDonald's.

If only for 1 night I would say it's fine to stay there pre-cruise without a car.

But since this Hampton Inn is not really cheap, maybe you could check out hotels downtown?

Thanks for replying Isa65.

Is there a hotel downtown you would recommend? I see Intercontinental come up a lot. Is the downtown area close to the port? Is there any area of downtown to avoid?

Thanks!

There are a number of hotels downtown and these are VERY close to Port of Miami. Check out pricing of the Intercontinental, Holiday Inn, Doubletree and read their reviews on Tripadvisor before deciding.

You won't need a rental car and there are lots of dining and shopping options in the area.

Also check out the new Hampton Inn Brickell.

In addition to the hotels already mentioned there is the Hyatt and Marriott Biscayne Bay near the Port of Miami.

When I stayed at the Hyatt it was any easy walk to CVS and Ross.

We are booked here two nights in April. Amazing reviews on tripadviser really close to Mary Brickell Village. The Metromover is right there to take you to Bayside.

Enjoy your cruise
