Traveling_Grover Posted January 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2014 Does anyone know if the Walgreen's near the cruise terminal sells wine? Don't want to lug my 2 allowed 750ml from Toronto if I can pick it up on the way to the terminal... :D thanks in advance for your answers!
Loving My Life Posted January 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2014 Its a CVS if I remember correctly, and yes, it does sell alcohol. Its not as big of a selection as a package store, but it will meet the needs of a lot of people, myself included.
cincycruisincouple Posted January 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2014 The CVS does sell wine, and a few bottles of alcohol. The liquor store in the cruise terminal has a bigger selection, and the prices are decent.
Starfire_rules Posted January 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2014 There is a Walgreens but it's in the middle of Old San Juan. There was very few bottles last time I was there, though. Sent from my iPod touch 5 using Tapatalk
sail7seas Posted January 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2014 Walgreen's is near the downtown Old San Juan Docks as is CVS. I know for sure CVS sells wine though I doubt there are any 'fabulous' vintages. :) It is near, convenient and very moderate priced.
trish1c Posted January 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 28, 2014 There are Walgreens all over the place. None are in walking distance from the Pan Am Pier but if you ask nicely & tip most cabbies will stop & wait. There are also liquor stores & other venues that sell alcohol in OSJ. Stinger-pr Posted January 29, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2014 If you're coming from the airport straight to the pier, there are three supermarkets that, while the cab would need to take a small detour, they are not that out of the way and can offer a much bigger selection of wines. There's one Pueblo and one Supermax in Isla Verde and another Supermax in De Diego Ave. in Condado. There's a Walgreen's a couple of blocks from the piers and a much smaller Supermax (along with the CVS in front of the piers) tha carry a selection of wines, but don't expect much of a choice from any of theso places. They tend to stock limited amounts and mostly are mainstream brands.
rjrice1 Posted January 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Is there any supermarkets near pier 4? Also are the prices at CVS/Walgreens same as here? I know some places charges a lot more. Thanks
MTemple212 Posted January 31, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 31, 2014 We are staying in the Condado area(Marriott) for a couple of days before our cruise about a week from now and are wondering if there are any liquor stores on that main drag called Ashford Ave I believe? cubswin2016 Posted January 31, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Close to the CVS (around the corner to the right as you look at the store) is a small liquor store (can't remember the name but ask someone) that has wine. Bought some rum and didn't look at the wine pricing, but the rum was inexpensive, hence I'm guessing the wine is priced good too.
OttoCal Posted January 31, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 31, 2014 There is a Walgreens across the street from the Marriott on Ashford in Condado. It sells wine, along with the full usual Walgreens selection (forgot sunscreen? No problem!) There is a Supermax Grocery Store across from the Doubletree by Hilton in Condado, which is about a 15 minute walk from the Marriott. Huge wine selection, standard reasonable grocery store prices. There is a CVS near the pier in OLD SAN JUAN- this is useful for CARNIVAL embarkations, or any ships making port calls. Note that Royal Caribbean departs from the PAN AM PIER. This is not in Old San Juan. It is over past the Convention Center. There is no store here of any sort. Use google maps to see- it is an industrial port. You can buy wine in cruise terminal waiting area, but I have no idea of prices or selection.

Thanks We've been in the CVS/Walgreens any number of times and I've always found the prices very similar to what we pay in Boston.
