I am a Carnival loyal cruiser and in autumn 2014 I am considering taking the Carnival Conquest on 2 cruises, one after another, first cruise Eastern Caribbean and 2nd cruise Western Caribbean. Anyone ever do that? Do you have to pack up and get off the ship after the first cruise? Just wondering in general what it might be like.

We did b2b last year on the Legend. We had the same cabin both cruises which was great and we didn`t have to get off the ship. We did have to meet in the theater at 7:30 AM along with non-US citizens. They had customs officials up on the stage and we had to line up to talk to them. They had us keep our customs form to turn in when our second cruise was over.

If you are a US citizen, you don't have to do anything until after everyone else departs the ship which is closer to 10:00 am. You will get a letter in your room the night before telling you when and where to meet.

Even if you have to change cabins, the room steward will help you move your things so you don't have to do a complete pack up.

Yes, I have done this. You will see many people doing this. They refer to it as a B2B (back to back). Sometimes you'll see a B2B2B or more lol.

As another poster said, it's great if you can choose the same cabin for both legs of your cruise. that way you do not have to pack and unpack.

you will have to get off the ship momentarily. they escorted us off the ship, we waited about 10 minutes and were escorted right back on the ship.

We received new S&S cards too.

From my research, it seems different ships have different ways of doing this. You should received the info on how your particular ship handles this situation.

We have done this several times. As a matter of fact, did a b2b2b on the Conquest last month. 3 glorious weeks!:D Loved it! Conquest is a great ship!

We did not have the same room so had to pack our bags after each cruise but it was very easy. Our room stewards moved all of our luggage for us. We met at 9:30am in the atrium lobby with our documents and was escorted off the ship, through customs, and back on the ship.

I've done it twice so far...both times out of NY. The 1st time (April 2012) I had the same cabin & no packing was great! Get off, get on...lol.

The most recent time, 12/27/2013 & 1/4/2014...I had different cabins. So I packed up, & at 10AM I went down to guest services, where they gave me my new S&S card, & a Carnival official took me (and one other person) off the ship...took us to the front of the customs line....we went through customs, & then re-boarded...going up the crew gangway ;). The whole exercise took about 10 minutes.

While I was gone my cabin steward moved my luggage to the new cabin...practically the same cabin anyway...just now I was port side & before I was starboard.

It was easy peasy. I love B2B's :).

In Sep/Oct 2013, y wife and I did a B2B Dover to New York, and New York to Tampa. We had the same room on both legs. The night before we arrived in New York our new cards were delivered to our stateroom. After arrival in New York all the B2B guests met in a public room and waited until all other passengers were off the ship. We were then escorted to Customs and were taken to another area to wait for all B2B folks to clear . We were then escorted back to he ship and were free to do whatever we wished. Our luggage never left the room.

We are doing exactly that... Oct 12 on the Conquest for the Eastern, then staying on for the Oct 19 Western. We've done a couple other B2B cruises and love it, especially having the same cabin for both legs. It's a very easy process, and so wonderful not having to pack up after the end of the first leg. :)

If you're planning on joining the same cruises as us, be sure to join our roll call too! :)

If you booked them yourself on the website, or booked them at different times, you may want to give Carnival a call and make sure they know that you're on Back-2-Back.

The crew on the Destiny seemed to be taken by surprise by our B2B in 2012. We went to the CS desk and asked them about it the instructions, because we hadn't received them, multiple times on the last night of the 1st cruise. They kept assuring us that we would get them before the morning (we never did). Finally I asked them to just tell us what we would need to do and then I could confirm it when the letter actually came, so we knew what to do.

When we arrived in the lobby the next morning, the officer in charge took our printed boarding passes back to the office because we weren't on her list. She confirmed that we were, in fact, booked on the next cruise and we joined the other family that was also on B2B.

They then told us we would have to wait to get our Sign & Sail cards for a few hours because, since they had had no idea we were on B2B, the cards were out at the check-in desk in the port. We objected to that, and after a little bit of pressure they sent someone across to the port building to get our cards.

A bit of a pain, but not too bad. When DW did her B2B2B last summer, we made sure that Carnival was well aware that she would be staying on the ship, and it was handled very differently. :D

I did a back to back on the Freedom. When I did not receive my letter in my stateroom on the last day, I visited the front desk and they noted me as a back to back guest and gave me the papers I needed. I booked my stateroom at different times (initially didn't know I was doing a back to back) so I did have a different stateroom for the second leg of the trip. It was no big deal. I notifying my room steward that I was staying on the ship and he coordinated with my new steward and moved my bags for me. It was nice enjoying a late breakfast on the ship. There was a time specified where you met the other back to back cruisers in a room onboard (they had coffee & pastries setup). Once the ship was cleared by customs, they walked about group back through customs that literally only took a few minutes and right back onboard. It was SO nice being among the first to arrive onboard. I think went to my new stateroom and unpacked my luggage which greeted me upon my arrival. It was much easier than I had expected & really nice to enjoy a different itinerary the first week. Also, anything I may have missed the first week, I was able to enjoy the second like a specific show, or meal.

We did a b2b ( med/transatlantic ) on the sunshine last November. 28 glorious days. After the first cruise they delivered the new cards to our stateroom with a sticker on it to show we could get off and return without the normal check in process. But, when I returned to the ship I zipped thru the waiting cruisers to get back on and when I checked in and they inserted my new card they asked if I stopped to get the new picture added to the card. I never thought about the new card not having it. Have fun, do a b2b.

We did a back to back on the Conquest last December and had a wonderful two weeks. We went to Guest Services to confirm we were on a b/b as suggested by our PVP. We were then sent a letter instructing us what to do at the end of the first leg. We went as a group to Customs and turned in the form, were given new Sail & Sign cards and then returned to the ship. We had the same cabin so did not have to pack. Try to do this, if you can, because it makes the transition so easy. As said before, you get a chance to do things you were not able to do during the first week and go to many different ports. We even stayed on the ship a couple of days and were able to enjoy the ship with few people on board. Loved everything about the Conquest and the staff were wonderful. Hope you have a great cruise. ;)

we've done B2B's on the Magic, first week Western and second week Eastern. We book early so we can get the same cabin both weeks it sure is nice not to have to pack. The process of getting off and back on is really easy and the ship staff were there to walk us through the process.

We will be on another B2B in April Nancy

Yes, 5 times. Monarch of the Seas twice, Carnival Fantasy twice, and most recently Carnival Legend.

They make it as easy as they can, its the best day (turnaround) of the whole cruise. Most will walk you off and then right back on, hand you your new cabin cards and your free.

The Legend cruise was over Christmas, and we did not have to get off, they just handed us our new cards at the desk. Easy peasy, Most we had to change cabins, but even that was easy. We just packed and stacked everything, and wandered about a bit, then went to the new cabin and all was already there. The very best part of cruising.
