Suds70 Posted January 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2014 First time sailing from Southampton ,uk will there be mostly British cruisers on board? Also we will be at sea during the final round of the Open. Do you think it will be on M.U.T.S?

Crzn-Life Posted January 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2014 If the cruises out of Southampton in July are British Isles cruises, then I doubt there would be that many Brits. Can't imagine they'd want to pay the high prices for a cruise around their own country when they could take other ships to other destinations. It's not as though they couldn't easily travel by land to any of the UK ports or take the ferry to Ireland for a whole lot less. If the cruise is to the Med, Norway, etc then there would probably be a large number. We were on the Crown in Sept/Oct for Med and Canary Island cruises and the largest majority of the passengers were Brits. Many of them were frequent P & O cruisers since they got full credit for their P & O status on Princess but the reverse is not true. Asked some of them we met if they'd be on any of the British Isles cruises on the Ruby and they just laughed and asked "Why would we?"

The fares for the ones we're booked on in May are really high so never thought about them being discounted. Posaune Posted January 29, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2014 We have done this cruise three times and can confirm what Shogun said. One of the trips sold quite well and had a high percentage of Americans. Two times the cruise did not sell well and had a wonderful mix of Scots and Brits that primarily booked at the last minute. They were having a wonderful time seeing areas of their own country they had never been to!
