LaurieHoffman Posted January 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2014 I am looking to book a cruise for my daughter and myself in March our of Long Beach - 4 night. I am Platinum and she is close to it. In the past it is usually my husband and me plus kids or the kids and me without hubby. This time it is just going to be the two of us - she is 15. I am thinking of trying something new this time to save a bit of $$. We usually book oceanview or even balcony. Interior category has available Upper/Lower, Porthole and regular Interior. I have stayed in a porthole once before and did feel the motion of the ship and not sure if I liked that. I think either regular interior or upper/lower would work. I would rather do ocean view but in order to talk the hubby to let us go alone I think I need to do it less expensive. The upper/lower is about $30 less than regular interior. I know the room is a bit smaller but with a pull down bunk it may seem like there is more room? Your thoughts on these two type room categories..... n6uqqq Posted January 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Go on the Miracle with interior room that has the french doors! Great price for interior that has light and fresh air. My daughter and I are going March 29th for spring break.

n6uqqq Posted January 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2014 There are some pretty good deals for the 4 nights out of Long Beach in March. I would probably go with the standard interior room.
MMSinPA Posted January 30, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2014 I really liked the interior upper/lower and also had my daughter with me. She was 12 at the time. There was lots of floor space and we didn't feel cramped. She had the to bunk, yes the stairs we're a pain probably, but she didn't complain once---we were on a cruise:) Sent from my VS930 4G using Forums mobile app
PAPERBKWRITER Posted January 30, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2014 But the Miracle does 7 days and is at least $600 more expensive. Bill There are 4 cabins on Miracle that are called 1A but are really 4A with the beds on the floor.I think one is on Rivera deck #1255 and another is next door. carrieluvsgreg Posted January 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 30, 2014 We've always stayed inside or porthole. (Never with more than 2 in a room...) I don't mind inside at all. I probably wouldn't mind the upper/lower if I were traveling with either of my kids. (Well, when they were little... Our daughter is 20 and our 17 year old son is 6'5"...). I always look at the other options for rooms and then always think... "I could spend that money on an excursion..." We do book interior rooms on ships with cloud 9 spas, which costs us extra. We love the spa and use it often on those trips. Other than that, I can't see paying for the other rooms... We're just not in the room that much. LaurieHoffman Posted January 30, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Wish I could do the Miracle but this time it is only a 4 night. My daughter is OK with anything and the bunk is a full size 'bed' so she would be OK going up the stairs. I was thinking about the more space too but will recheck our options after school today when I go to book.
nwo4life Posted January 30, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 30, 2014 I would go with a porthole on Empress if I could get it. Cheap price, all portholes are priced the same regardless of deck, and great location.

I've always done 1A when traveling with my son and he's never complained about being in the top bunk. Last time we traveled together he was 20 and stood at 6'6". The room does appear bigger with just the single bed and the top bunk overhead. If you need to travel the cheapest way to convince DH then 1A it is! The bonus of a 1A - you're NEVER in the room because there isn't any natural light (at least I can't stay in the room unless I'm showering, taking a nap, changing or getting my zzz's). I've only traveled in interior upper/lower OR balcony so I can't comment on an outside cabin.
S.S.Oceanlover Posted January 30, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) There are 4 cabins on Miracle that are called 1A but are really 4A with the beds on the floor.I think one is on Rivera deck #1255 and another is next door. But it is still a 7 day cruise and much more money than than the shorter cruises. :-) OP if you book now you get free upgrades also. <3_2_Cruise Posted January 30, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 30, 2014 You should look at an interior on the empress deck.

Midship, between atrium bar and midship elevators is close to casino and MDR Sent from my iPod
