Zoey Posted January 31, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2014 I see on the New York Harbor webcam that Breakaway is on her way in. Does anyone know where she will be docking in relation to where Getaway is currently docked? I wonder if we'll be able to see both of them side by side on the Port of New York camera? bguppies Posted January 31, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) I doubt it, as the pier area around Getaway is full of tents and stuff for the nightly Super Bowl parties... The Intrepid has been converted for Super Bowl and DirecTV has their huge party tent for tomorrow's Celebrity Beach Bowl and concert set up there also... Would be a terrible debarkation/embarkation for the Breakaway if they did. Let us know where she winds up... Zoey Posted January 31, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Breakaway has pulled up behind Getaway almost at a complete stop and the Captain is thinking "Hmmmmmmmmmm.......should I or shouldn't I?" (pull in right beside her) LOL
limeyalchemist Posted January 31, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) Breakaway should dock north of Getaway at its normal berth at pier 88. From the webcams http://portnywebcam.com it appears that she is going in that way, on the opposite side of the pier. Some discussion yesterday indicated that getaway dropped some of her lifeboats in order for the gangway to reach her. Both these megaships re too large for the normal gangway without losing some lifeboats. Breakaway will just use the special gangway built for her. Turning into the berth as I speak... Rare shof515 Posted January 31, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 31, 2014 looks like NYC might need a bigger pier/terminal for these ships

bguppies Posted January 31, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Very cool... Thanks for the pictures. Might be one of a very few times any line's largest Sister ships dock that close to each other...(since generally they are homeported at different ports, with differing itineraries..) Can't imagine Oasis and Allure side by side.
