drkq Posted February 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2014 I have been on three NCL cruises and then got hooked on HAL. But, I would like to take a 7 day mediterranean cruise and NCL is the only cruise line that has one. While shopping, I noticed that NCL now charges for shows. What is this about? Should you spend extra money to see a show? Is it every night?
bakerintn Posted February 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2014 You don't have to pay for traditional shows. On Epic, Getaway and Breakaway, there are "dinner shows" that have an extra charge, but all the other shows do not. Also, on those ships there are one or more shows that need reservations, but no extra cost. So...if you are not going on one of those 3 new ships, no extra cost for shows. If you are going on them, check out the dinner show and decide for yourself if that is a good value for you.
Twinzma Posted February 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2014 Most of the shows are included in your cruise fare. On the Epic the only show you pay for is Cirque. I am not sure what ship you are looking into or what shows you are referring to but, no it is not the norm to pay for shows onboard and no you will not be paying nightly to see them. Rare graphicguy Posted February 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2014 NCL has the best entertainment at sea. And, I've sailed Solstice, RCCL Liberty and Allure, a couple of Carnivals, a HAL cruise. Entertainment, NCL wins hands down. Blue Man Group is free. Legends is free. Rock of Ages is free. All of them are excellent. Even the main atrium entertainment is amazing, and also free. Then, guys like Slam Allen, if he wasn't playing on a cruise ship, would be headlining a blues club in a major city. You do pay for the food in the Cirque Dinner shows. But, all the entertainment is free.....and, it's all great entertainment.

Rare KeithJenner Posted February 1, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2014 If you are doing a 7 night Med cruise then it will be on the Epic of Jade. All entertainment on the Jade is free. The Epic just has Cirque which is a dinner and show and has a charge. Lots of entertainment available for free. Just be aware if it's the Epic then the entertainment is different to that which is on the same ship in the Caribbean, so if you are looking at current reviews then you will probably have different options in Headliners/Fat Cats. jakeT Posted February 1, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 1, 2014 It is a diner show, I think steak and shrimps. NCL has a lot of up charges restaurants on their ships. This is just another one of them. I personal did not do that show; you have no choice in your food. Again how can you not like steak and shrimp? But it is up to you to do it or not. You will not starve
