HopingForFun333 Posted February 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2014 Hi, We are booked on the transatlantic crossing on Indy in November. It will be our first cruise and we are enjoying every bit of the planning so a quick thank you to everyone here as we are picking up loads of great advice as we go. We just wanted to ask everyones opinion as we didn't realise this will be Indy's last cruise whilst based in Southampton. :(. Are there any advantages or disadvantages in being on the last cruise ? sort of the end of an era so to speak, although we know it will still be possible to cruise on her from wherever she will be based. We are just glad we are booked now as the Indy seems to have a special place place in cruisers hearts. Thanks
jo24 Posted February 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2014 Hi there I am curious to know the answer to this too as I am also on this cruise! Hope to see you over on the roll call soon! Jo :)
hairymelon Posted February 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2014 I am also on this cruise and hadn't really thought of anything special being done on her last sailing from Southampton. Now I will wait to hear from others who have done a 'last sailing' and see what happens :D

DEIx15x8 Posted February 1, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2014 I wouldn't expect anything officially special, perhaps just a lot of sad last moments. When we did the Indy transatlantic in November 2012 it was obvious just how much the British people loved her and how unusually British the crew on her was. Royal Caribbean starts and ends a lot of contracts around the transatlantics to avoid airfare one way so expect a lot of people saying hi and bye to her for the last time. Most crew have had many contracts on her and will likely choose to stay with England over the Indy so they'll be headed to Anthem on there next one. Many of the passengers have been doing the transatlantics yearly to travel between summer and winter homes (no idea what they'll do in Spring 2015 when there is no return transatlantic) so they'll be headed to Anthem as well so I don't really think as many people will be saying by to Southampton as much as the ship. She has a very small logo selection so there is really nothing for them to have to get rid of. Until we know her next destination it's hard to say what they'll have to change later on. We know her tea pots will likely be thrown away instead of put into storage this year since she won't need them again.
