Catrin Posted July 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2005 Hi Everyone.... Getting ready to book our next cruise tomorrow.... our decision is based upon getting cheap flights! We can get a southwest flight home from FLL - but the latest time available is 11:55 - is this pushing it too close? How far is the FLL pier to the airport?? We are thinking of the Legend. Please give me your experiences and advice! Thanks! Catrin
loudbmw Posted July 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2005 The FLL airport is very close to the Legend pier (like 10 minutes). Grab a taxi not a bus transfer. If you do self assist or get early debarkation, you should be at the airport with plenty of time to spare. Book it before the airfare goes up! If the ship is on time to the port, it shouldn't be a problem. (We sailed the Legend in 2003 and I believe it got into Fort Lauderdale at 7 a.m. - we were off by 9:30 and we weren't in the first groups to get off the ship. jerrymac Posted July 20, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2005 Hey Lou how are you doing, been on any cruises since the Legend?
loudbmw Posted July 20, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2005 Gone on two this year and a third booked. Did a quickie Sovereign of the Seas for our Aniversary - nicely refurbished ship and also the Miracle during spring break. Set to go on the Mariner on August 20. Looking for next year already - may do the Legend in Thanksgiving 2006. Lou
LornaT Posted July 20, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 20, 2005 If your not carrying your luggage off, go to the Pursers Desk the day before dabkation and show them your airline tickets/confirmation and they will give you early debarkation luggage tags for your bags, they will be in the terminal in an area just for early off. As noted above, a taxi is definitely going to be quicker, if a porter tries (and they will) to get you in a van ............... unless it's already got people in it........don't! The van driver will not leave the port until his van is full........we got stuck waiting about 30 minutes for the van to fill up, lucky fo rus we had a 4 pm flight so it was no problem. Be prepared for lines at the airport though, there is likely to be more than just the Legend in port with all (or most) of their passengers trying to fly home. You'll love the Legend..............the ship and the crew are great .......... and you will get used to all the urns.
