Hi Laurie,

Avis will give you great directions, but if you want to plan ahead of time....

Avis is located near the airport, they will direct you from their location to get to the road called A2 (its close by, but you have to cross a couple of roads and go through a rotary). It is pretty much a 2 lane highway. This will take you through Bodden Town and into Frank Sound ( a little village). Once you reach Frank Sound, you will take a left onto Frank Sound Road. You will follow Frank Sound til the end, then take a left onto A4 heading towards Rum Point. Follow that to Rum Point, you can't miss it, there is a big sign.

This is the shortcut version, the alternative is to take the coastal route, which is continuing on A2 in Frank Sound and going all around the island. A2 turns into A3 and then A4. But this is the long route.

From the Avis spot to Rum Point is about a 40 min drive, very scenic.

Everything is well marked. Caution about the rotary, unlike here where we have signs before you enter the rotary indicating which turn off takes you onto what road, the sign is right at the exit of the rotary, don't worry, it is easy to find, but it took us one full turn around the rotary to see the sign for A2. Just watch for the signs to Bodden Town, A2 is the only way to get there.

There are not many roads on the island, so don't worry you can't get lost.

Here is a website with a map of GC and you can see the roads I mention above. Frank Sound is the road that runs through the middle of the island.

Also, give yourself a little extra time on the way back and make sure you ask AVIS for exact road names when heading back to their office. The roads around the airport are a little confusing and there was a little traffic in the late afternoon.

It is very easy getting used to driving on the opposite side as well.

Please feel free to ask any other questions. Glad you are going, it is so beautiful.

Michelle
