thedoc29ca Posted February 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2014 We are looking forward to the Getaway this upcoming March and wanted to give Cagneys a try. I am curious if more experienced cruisers, perhaps someone who has done the Epic Eastern Caribean itinerary, may have some advice. Just wondering if there is any reason to consider a particular day, early in the week or later, port day or sea day etc when booking specialty dining. Thanks for your consideration and input. phoenix1181 Posted February 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2014 When we decided to give NCL a 2nd chance a few years ago, a friend recommended we go to Cagney's the first night. He didn't say why but we took his advice & had a great dinner. After dinner, we heard people complain about the poor service in the MDR & since then, have read several times here that the first night dinner in the MDR is frequently poor. We have continued following his advice with no regrets...........
garycarla Posted February 2, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) First night - some people are excited and want a nice sit down and some people are to excited to just sit down, so opt out Busy port day - some like to come back, clean up and go to Cagneys and some are too tired to even eat the food in front of them At Sea Day - some like to finish off a lazy day with nice dinner. Lots of time to get ready. and some have partied all day and not in the mood for fancy dinner and do Blue Lagoon Last night - some like to finish cruise with fancy dinner and some prefer to pack, and then go party Pick your poison. david_sobe Posted February 2, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2014 The specialty restaurants are usually booked the final night. So if that is your choice, book early.
VideoTech Posted February 2, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 2, 2014 Every night!!!! Agreed!:D Seriously, if you're flexible about your dining time, you can almost always walk up to the specialty restaurants (except Teppanyaki) on any night and get a reservation. I don't think any particular day of a cruise is any worse or any better than any other.

suometar Posted February 3, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 3, 2014 We like to go on the second night, because that is usually the dress-up-or not night and we like to dress up for the upscale restaurants.
