antiquitys Posted February 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2014 I will be renting a car and spending an extra day in Miami after my cruise on the Carnival Glory. What should I see and do while I am there?
msolberg Posted February 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2014 My favorite place is Bayside Market Place. They have shops, restaurants, bars and live entertainment. It's right on the water too. Love it there.
JohninDC Posted February 2, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2014 Leave Miami and go to Miami Beach -- that is the "Miami" you see in the movies and TV shows. Great dining, nightlife, beach, art galleries, people watching, etc. You do not need a car if you stay in South Beach. :)

msolberg Posted February 3, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2014 I did not know any better, so I am already booked into the Intercontinental Hotel. South beach is expensive and over rated. Been there, done that. Although you don't really say what you're interested in?
JohninDC Posted February 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 3, 2014 I did not know any better, so I am already booked into the Intercontinental Hotel. Parking for your rental at the IC will be expensive -- you can cab from the IC to SB and back for about whay you'll pay to rent & park your car (or take the bus both ways for MUCH less). Happy Canadian Posted February 3, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) For something different, we went to Vizcaya (see link below) Check your hotel for discount coupons as well. http://miami.about.com/cs/generalinfo/a/aa021703.htm If you are a baseball fan, you can book park tours for the new Marlins Park. http://miami.marlins.mlb.com/mia/ballpark/marlins_park_tours.jsp Edited February 3, 2014 by Happy Canadian transportation information not required. antiquitys Posted February 3, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted February 3, 2014 South beach is expensive and over rated. Been there, done that. Although you don't really say what you're interested in? Just seeing any sights. I am 59 and mostly disabled. I walk with a cane and pain. Some years ago before I was disabled, we flew into Ft. Lauderdale and drove to Key West. We stopped along the way at a memorial for the victims of a hurricane and spent a week walking around Key West. So, any interesting or historical sights. I suppose we will drive up Ocean in Miami Beach and maybe eat there. Other than that, I am looking to this thread to provide suggestions.

antiquitys Posted February 9, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted February 9, 2014 Online I saw that the grey line has hop on hop off busses in Miami so I am now thinking that if I buy 48 hour passes for this I won't need to rent a car. Does that sound right?
