idjaffe Posted February 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2014 Need some help - can't seem to find a great excursion/activity for the day. We are a family of 4 (mom, dad and 2 12-yr Olds) Any recommendations?
Inthedark31 Posted February 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2014 I would recommend Sunset Beach. If you book through Resort for a Day it provides transportation and is all inclusive. It also isn't as pricy as some of the others but provides a great time for kids with a lazy river and water slides. There is also the Hilton Rose Hall and can be booked through the same company. It costs more but the pool area is muich better and it isn't nearly as crowded. The lazy river is amazing, and the slides are super. The food and service was really good but the beach area wasn't the best.
olya1972 Posted February 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2014 We visited Falmouth, Jamaica on the Allure of the Seas on January, 29th, 2014 (last week). We have taken taxi from the port to Montego Bay for $20 per person round trip (45 min ride through a BEAUTIFUL country side, was a tour in itself). Once in Montego Bay we went to Doctors' Cave - a private beach, $6 per person entry fee, $6 per beach chair and $6 per umbrella (but there was shade under palm trees, so umbrella could be avoided). Beach was beautiful with breathtaking view of the mountains, nice curving shore line with hotels along the beach and a view of cruise ship @ Montego Bay port in the distance. Water was absolutely clear. There is a nice and reasonably priced restaurant on the beach (lunch with drinks and tip for two people under $40) with live playing band. It is a small beach, but it didn't feel crowded. There were some families with children, but I don't remember if the had water toys for kids on the beach. At the end, we were extremely happy that we didn't book a day at the beach through Resort/Jamaica For A Day, because we would pay twice as much and be on their time, not ours. And this is despite the fact that driver who pus off didn't return to pick us up. We had no difficulty getting taxi to go back for $30 per taxi. ReggaeRoy Posted February 6, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2014 We will be in Montego Bay for a day next October. Our plan is take a red plate taxi to Doctor's Cave Beach for the day. Probably do some shopping along the "hip strip" and make or way to Margaritaville for a drink before we go back to the ship.
idjaffe Posted February 6, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted February 6, 2014 Anyone have recommendations other than the beach? ATV or other adventures?
mrsfuzzmo Posted February 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 6, 2014 If you can get a tour to Mayfield Falls, it's a blast! Not sure of your Port times, but this is an adventure that twelve year olds and adults alike would love. It's a windy, jungly drive there (which in itself is experiencing real Jamaica) into the hills. Once there you put on your watershoes and literally hike up a river. There are falls along the way you must climb up, caves, cliffs to jump from, then once you are about a mile up the river you hike back along a path that gives you GREAT views. We LOVED this excursion.
Rare mitsugirly Posted February 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2014 We just spent the day at Hilton Rose Hall and it is beautiful there. There's tons to do and they have a lazy river, pool and also water slides. I did a complete review with TONS of pictures found HERE. It starts around post #248.
