nyctravelerwithkids Posted February 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2014 We are going to be on St. Maarten in April. We would like to go to the beach for the day, but would like the water to be calm there. Last year we went to Oriental beach and the surf was too rough, we could hardly stay on our feet in the water. Le Galeon doesn't interest us, it's too lagun-like for my taste. The question: would the taxi driver know which beach has the calmest surf on the day of our visit? Thank you. Taxi drivers might know - but you can usually count on beaches on the west side of the island to be calmer: Mullet, and the beaches fronting Nettle Bay are usually fairly calm. Karysa Posted February 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2014 I think that Anse Marcel would be a good choice.
Rickster Posted February 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2014 Pinel Island, very calm, worth the effort to go there.
