Can I take Skytrain from the Amtrak Station to Canada Place?

Recommended Posts

Yes you can catch the Skytrain right outside the Amtrak station. It is an elevated line at Main Street Station. Make sure you are on the right side of the platform for Waterfront Station. The fare is just 1 Zone - $2.75 for adults & $1.75 for 65+

From Waterfront it is a short 2 block walk to Canada Place.

Follow the signs to the Howe Street Exit, marked "CANADA PLACE" and it's a ½ block walk, not 2. Generally this will mean turning left as you get off the train.

Also, Main Street/Science World station is undergoing some renovations, so by summer not all trains will stop there, but there will be shuttle service from Main Street to Waterfront (although eastbound trains will only go as far as Commercial from Main St).

You do have to negotiate one flight of stairs to get to the Sky Train platform.

All stations have elevators;

Most have escalators for at least going up;

However, not all options are available at all entrances to stations.

To get from Pacific Station/Amtrak-VIA (Main St/Science World Skytrain Stn) to Canada Place (Waterfront Stn)

  • Main St Skytrain: New east side entrance - closest to the VIA/Amtrak station - has escalator/elevators. This entrance re-opens next week after extensive rebuild which included adding the escalator/elevator. Existing west side entrance also has elevators (but it being rebuilt starting next week)

  • Waterfront: Howe St exit (closest to Canada Place) has your choice of both stairs and escalators going up from platform level, but requires an escalator+short staircase if you're going down to the platform.

  • Waterfront (station complex): has escalators, stairs and Elevators to platform level
