RocksNoSalt Posted July 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2005 Hey, I was on the port side of the CB in May. I am going again in September. I am booked on the Starboard side. Never thought of this before, but what side is the smoking side of the ship? I really am allergic. Did I pick the wrong side? Thanks!
WCAB Posted July 21, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2005 smoking side refers to outside decks. If you are speaking about your cabin, there are no in room/balcony resrtrictions. Most common shared areas inside are non smoking. Carol
cruisingbug Posted July 21, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2005 I was under the impression that Princess didn't have smoking or nonsmoking sides of the ships as other lines do...

Never thought of this before, but what side is the smoking side of the ship? I really am allergic. Did I pick the wrong side? Thanks! Rocks, Will you have a balcony? If so, I hope you don't have smoker/smokers on either or both sides of your stateroom. I have asthma and am prone to serious episodes when I'm exposed to smoke. Last cruise (January, CB), we had smokers (one who enjoyed cigars) on both sides of us, and it seemed one or both of them were out on the balcony whenever I went out there! The combination of the smoke and dustmites in the bedding caused me to use my inhaler much more than I would have at home. I coughed a lot, especially during the wee hours, and secretly hoped that it awakened the neighbors - just joking, of course. I avoid areas of the ship where people might be smoking (casino, sports bar, cigar bar (duh!), and I'm sure you, too, will find shipboard venues where the smoke won't be too troublesome. DH and I enjoyed the CB so much that we are booked on another cruise, same ship, same itinerary January 28, 2006. I'm already counting the days! Bon Voyage! Momj47 Posted July 21, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 21, 2005 The port (left as you face the front of the ship) side is the smoking side of the Lido Deck on the Island Princess. All the tables on that side have ashtrays on them. None of the tables on the starboard side have ashtrays on them.

We are on the Caribe deck. We had the port side in May and it was so nice. Loved every minute of it. We booked again for Sept., but because we were last minute we ended up with Starboard on the Caribe. I didn't know if one side of the ship for cabins was designated smoking. Sure hope I don't have the experience you did. That had to be awful. I love to chill on the balcony with a bottle of wine and a good book. Wish me luck! NASH99 Posted July 22, 2005 #8 Share Posted July 22, 2005 The Princess staterooms and balcony's are all PC. Personal choice. You can smoke in/on them if you want. In this case there is no non smoking side of the ship. (cough) Steve
