What should we do?

We are a group of 10 that will arrive in Ft. Lauderdale on Thursday evening/night for a Friday morning cruise from Port of Miami.

 

Would you -

 

Stay overnight in Ft. Lauderdale and hire a shuttle to the Port of Miami in the morning?

 

Or

 

Try and make it to a Miami hotel Thursday evening and take a cab to Port in the morning?

 

Also which option would be more economical for the group? All suggestions are welcomed :)

I would probably stay in FLL and shuttle over the next morning. The cost of the hotels will depend on the time of year you are coming but FLL is usually cheaper than MIA (JMO). You can shuttle with QLS, SAS, Go Shuttle in the morning (I have used QLS for a group of 13-worked well for us).

QLS gives a discount as to how many folks are booked. With 10 , it should be resonable, but do give them a call for a quote. QLS also does a FLL pick-up starting at 9am not 10 like some other shuttles.

We were a group of 5 that flew into FLL airport early evening. Stayed at Sleep Inn & Suites FLL airport, free airport shuttle, hot breakfast and shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Great rates and some rooms are suites. All rooms had a microwave and mini- fridge.

 

Next morning, QLS was on time and we were at the port by 9:45. By the time we gathered our luggage and checked them with a porter, the doors to the terminal were open. We were some of the very first ones in.

 

After the cruise, QLS called to keep in touch and even offered us an earlier shuttle time, since were were off the ship long before we thought we would be.

We have a group of 8 and are doing the same thing. We fly into FLL the day/afternoon before for a Miami cruise. We are going to head straight to Miami when we land. We wanted to stay in downtown Miami (Intercontinental) near the port. That way we can walk to the stores or a variety of places to eat.

We will hire a shuttle van from FLL to the Miami hotel then take taxis to POM. Although we could have gotten a hotel with free airport transfer in Fort Lauderdale it limits our choices and we wanted the convenience of downtown Miami.

We are coming in at about 2pm though. If I were getting in after 8pm I think I would just want to get to the hotel so I would stay near FLL.

We have not finalized our plans, but as of right now we won't land until about 8pm so I think our best bet is to stay near FLL. Some of the group would like to head to Miami to get in a night of partying before the cruise lol!! I just don't think it's the best idea.

We paid $10 pp. This time we only have 7 and are paying the same price with them.

Call me biased, but I think you have it backwards. Staying in Ft Lauderdale would be more convenient and give you many more options for dining, shopping and beach time than Downtown Miami all at a lower cost, especially if you double shuttle.
