Couple observations Silhouette cruise.

We returned from our cruise on Feb 2nd. On a scale of 1-10 it was a 9.75 for sure.

I won't bother with embarkation,nothing major,quick and easy

Same with the ports...everyone has a different idea about the best thing to do in each port. Best to listen to the pros on that.

We have been on 30 or so cruises,mostly Caribbean,so we are more about the ship than the ports.

There are just a few observations I would like to mention.

The staff....amazing! From our cabin steward and his assistant to the bartenders and casino personnel. Very friendly and helpful.

The food,except for the lobster on formal night,ranged from good to excellent. We dined at Tuscan and it was outstanding. The only other surcharge dining we did was Bistro on 5 and The Porch. Both very good

A few minor points that kept me from giving a perfect score ( not that me giving a perfect score matters to anyone 😏)

Many of the cushions in the lounge chairs are in desperate need of replacement . Stains and broken down. Many uncomfortable.

My biggest "gripe" is storage in the cabin. The over the bed shelf is not easy to access. Try to pull one thing out and others come with it. There might be a better way to utilize it.

There are 3 drawers in the "cabinet" they are very deep and again,we had to "rummage" to get stuff out of the bottom. Would have made more sense to make 4 or 5 more shallow drawers. On the other hand,the drawer in the vanity was so shallow it barely hel curling iron and such.

The bathroom on the other hand,had plenty of great storage. Plus the closet was fine.

Is any of this major? Absolutely not. Just a few minor issues.

Celebrity will always be our first choice. Next one in 9 long months.

At the very least, such items should routinely be provided to passengers as standard issue to compensate for the deficiencies in their design of the stateroom storage areas.

 

Passengers should no more need to bring along their own stateroom storage units than they should need to bring along their own toilet paper or towels or blankets.

Target carries them and someone from our roll call said they just saw them at Target in the dollar bins when you first enter. I purchased mine at one of the dollar stores, very inexpensive and light weight for packing.

We bring a hanging canvas closet organizer. It velcros on the hang bar in the closet and has 5 or 6 compartments. We bought it at Target for less than $20, it folds up nicely for packing and it stores a lot of our clothes/under garments and is within easy reach. Can't imagine not having this extra storage space.

Look for this video, Celebrity Reflection Cabin 8338 by Cruiseguys2009 on you tube the video shows them at about the 6 min point. We got ours at the Dollar store, they fold flat.

One tip to deal with storage issues on S-class ships that I read on here and used on the Eclipse: take the life jackets out of their bin under the bed and store them in those cabinets above the bed. Use the bin under the bed to store things you want to be able to get to frequently. This worked really well for us.

 

We managed fine, storage wise, except that the location of the safe on top of the mini-fridge on the newer S-class ships is very bad, as the safe heats up from the fridge motor. We therefore did not use it for sensitive electronics (like memory cards) -- it was just too hot! And the motor even heated up the top clothing drawer next to it. Hot clothes. :rolleyes: (Just a really bad configuration of the fridge/safe/drawers.)

 

But we loved the Eclipse and none of those issues is a deal breaker. In fact, we'll be on the Silhouette TA this fall. OP, thanks for your mini-review!
