i really do not like this law... i really dont..

my mom booked with us and got an interior cabin... go figure the single occupancy cut carnival is doing the further sail date it goes out is the one that sails the week before we do.. ::sigh::

anyone thing they will open it up to further sailings?? or the odds of that happening will be more like me losing 30 lbs in a day??

Keep checking. They may do it for your sailing too. But if your cruise is selling well, they probably won't. But also, don't check interiors only! On my last cruise, about 2 months prior to sailing, they opened up oceanview rooms only with no solo supplement. I was villainized by a couple posters on another thread over this, but it was definitely true. OVs had no solo supplement, while interiors had the 200% supplement. So it was much much cheaper for a solo to book or upgrade to an OV as opposed to an interior. That could happen. Our OVs were not selling well, but interiors were, which is why they did that. I guess it's possible that they could do this for balconies only as well.

Sorry, but I cannot understand the question in here.

Is this about the single supplement as mentioned above?

gary

yes sorry i tend to ramble...

they released waiving the solo supplement on select sailings.. and of course when i checked the latest one that they did it extend it was the 5/4/14 sailing and we are on 5/12/14 sailing of the splendor...

Actually check all levels if you are interested in something other than a interior. I actually ended up with the Aft wrap on a March 9 sailing with no solo supplement.

Not something that happens often I'm sure, but glad I happened to be bored that day and looked. Since I'm usually paying for two people. $1000 for a aft wrap was insanely great price.

I just was wandering around the site pricing and ended up changing from a cruise planned next year to leaving the next month; luckily work cooperated and let me off since I put the money down immediately.

There will be future no solo supplement rates.

The GoCCL site updated their list of no supplement sailings on 1/22 and again on 2/6, so maybe there will be updates every 15 days or so?

I just "jumped ship" from Royal Caribbean over to Carnival, after 10 years of only sailing on RCL as a solo ( I am actually at a high level in the loyalty program). Last fall RCL implemented a full 200% surcharge on almost all ships & sailings, fortunately I already had 2 cruises booked for 2014, with surcharges at about 1.60. This week I wanted a quick 4 day last minute cruise out of Port Canaveral, however RCL would have cost me over $600 for an interior cabin. I called the RCL loyalty program and guest relations, basically was told "oh well, we don't see a need to offer discounts to solos, our ships will fill up anyway". So I booked on the Sensation for half the price for an oceanview, no single surcharge. It may be older and not as fancy, but for a quick getaway it'll be fine. I could have even booked the 7 day cruise on the Dream , with no surcharge, for less than RCL was charging for the 4 day. I have sent an email to the President of RCL, suggesting they consider dropping the 200% surcharge to maybe 150% for cruises sailing within 2 weeks, but I guess they'd rather have the cabin go out empty than give the solos a break. RCL also seems to have dropped the military discount for solos, based on a fake booking I was researching, wait until veterans discover that policy change.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, maybe not this year, when most of us already have cruises booked pre policy change, but definitely next year, where I for one will not be booking my usual 3 RCL cruises.

I'm in the same boat. I think the only cruises you won't get 200% supplement, will be Transatlantics, but very last minute.

We were able to get a corner AF with wrap around balcony on once. Be prepared to be spoiled.

That's one reason I rarely book a cruise more than 60 days out. Most are less than 30 days out, sometimes even the day before.

Well, when I started seeing the no-solo-supplement fares, I was a little peaved. I've mostly sailed solo for the last few years - naturally, just after Carnival went from 150% to 200%.

I was booked on Fantasy 5/6 and decided no solo fare was going to happen, so invited two friends.

Then I saw Pride 5/4 with no supplement! So I changed my reservation today. Probably alienated my friends as well, but that wouldn't be the first time. They're still going on Fantasy, but, of course, it'll cost them more than splitting the total 3 ways.

But I also get an increase in my SH OBC from $50 to $100 because the cruise is longer. I also may have a free place to leave my car and free shuttle to the port since a friend's son lives in Baltimore.

I can't normally sail on short-term notice because of work. I just lucked out with this one available the same time week I'd already booked and also within driving distance.

I don't quite understand this. All of the Fantasy cruises are no single supplement, I believe. We are leaving Sunday with three nice private cabins.:)

A new list of no single supplement cruises went out at the beginning of January. At that time the March cruise I was interested in did not have this available. A revised list went out (as someone mentioned in an earlier post) on 1/22. On that date my cruise was showing the no-single supplement so I booked a deck 10 balcony for $599 plus taxes. for me this was an amazing deal as only a few days prior, a 1A for the same cruise was selling for $685.

I still check the price occasionally - there is no single supplement for the insides and OV's, but it has been reinstated for balconies and higher. My advice is to keep checking frequently, because you never know when, or for how long, the no-single supplement will last.

Cheers

Yes, well, when I booked the 5/6 Fantasy in December, there WAS a single supplement. I originally booked at 200%. When it appeared that it was NOT going to drop to no supplement, I invited two friends. I haven't been looking for solo cruises because I was already booked. I'm not sure how I stumbled across the Pride sailing, but that was one I had originally wanted to do anyway, but didn't booked because of the high price that was doubled!

As I said, I cannot book last minute. So, when I see a cruise I want off in the future, I have to request the time off and I book then to get a cabin I want, not just what's left over.

I couldn't call my friends the other day and just say, "Hey, there's no single supplement now, so I want you guys to cancel so I can go solo!" Could I? They're already rather peaved with me because it's now going to cost them quite a bit more (we were booked under my casino rate, which none of them get, and they're each having to pay 50% of the total, not 33% (for those of you who aren't into math)). The drive to Baltimore is quite a bit further for them than to Charleston, too.

Hopefully, they'll continue to offer no single supplements from Charleston and I can take my original cruise late this year.

So do the prices usually drop a month or two before sailing? I will be sailing single for a bit here... until I find someone. Found an awesome deal on the Miracle in December for two weeks ago. Also a good deal in early May for the imagination. I can take time off and I want to book airfare in advance. But is it worth it to wait to book?

It would seem that all of the no-solo-supplement deals that I have noticed have happened after the final payment date for that sailing. For my recent Dream cruise, it was at about 2 months prior to sailing that they offered it for oceanview rooms only. It lasted 2-3 weeks, and once several people took advantage of it, it went away. It may be a tedious process having to check different room types of every sailing of every ship that's a possibility for you, and checking it every day, but it could certainly pay off in the end. Good luck.

Does anyone know if you can price match with early saver if they reduce the single supplement?

I booked the Pride Repo cruise next March - and there are no accessible cabins (other than the 1 suite) that hold 3 people so I booked 2 cabins for my parents and I (mom and dad in one cabin and just me in the other). I'm paying 200% but booked under early saver. I know it's a long shot but if they reduce the single supplement for that cruise, could I match it using my early saver?

I was able to price match on my April 18th cruise on the Inspiration. I booked this cruise back in November. couple weeks ago I noticed that they dropped the solo supplement. I called the 800 number and got $321 OBC for a 3 day cruise.

The list is up to date as of 2/6 and I suspect will be updated twice monthly going forward, give or take.

Both of the solo cruises I have booked have been prior to final payment date.

I would never ever do this. What has happened to MY WORD IS MY BOND? Or am I being old fashioned? I do know that among my circle of close friends none would bale out on a commitment to share cost, but perhaps we are all old fashioned.
