Kartgv Posted February 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Search function on all forums is currently 'down for maintenance'. It's been sporadic for weeks - hopefully they'll get it really fixed this time!
Clarea Posted February 15, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) A very good method mentioned by Cigar King is to do a Google search using site:cruisecritic.com as part of the query. Edited February 15, 2014 by clarea

goodycruising Posted February 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Yesterday there was a forum outage for a few hours and site roll back. Some posts were lost in that process. It says something about it at the top of the list of topics. Searching with Google, great idea!
rummenroman Posted February 15, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2014 As mentioned previously there has been some on going issues with the boards. I was unable to access them for just about 24 hours due to maintenance. I'm wondering if they took many of the non-essential parts of the boards down in order to allow a more stable environment for the main part of the site, being the boards themselves. campingman Posted February 15, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Its massive downside of not allowed to search? Hopefully they will get their homework done, asap
Laney219 Posted February 15, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 15, 2014 FWIW: I know the Google search was mentioned already, but even when the search function is working, I find it not the easiest. I prefer the Google method and then going to the post that way.
coolcat12 Posted February 15, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Google has been my search of choice with these boards. Other message boards have the google search as default.:D
joepeka Posted February 15, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Thanks a bunch for the help, I even tried to search my prior posts, yet no luck!! I just noticed the moderators finally put up an announcement a couple of days ago at the top of the forum about the site outages and the disabled search function. Rare Familygoboston Posted February 15, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 15, 2014 I bagged it a while ago, and just use google exclusively, once you find the search results that link you to the Cruise Critic site, you can click on those and get right to the page containing your search terms. Even when CC search was working you were often stuck with scrolling through the whole thread (sometimes for pages!) looking for your search terms in red. Probably benefits CC too- "gee whiz, look how many hits we got from google" ;) Of course, if I google to search CC, other sites that also would like to sell me cruises are able to find my eyeballs, so maybe the CC search will become operational again, if only to captivate my eyeballs exclusively:p
