Carnival pride

The ship has a great layout. Just wasn't thrilled with the "décor" of the ship. But is there really a "BAD" cruise?:rolleyes: We had a great itinerary on this one. Grand Turk, HMC, and Freeport (not so great) Service was great, and food was great. Overall, really a great ship, again, I just didn't care for the décor on it. Very dark interior..

We sailed the Pride in 2010. I believe there may have been changes since then.

The food in the dining room was good, no problems. The food in the buffet was not good. The hours were less than we are used to on RC and as late dinner diners we were often left with deli sandwiches, pizza or burgers. Not what I wanted everyday. DD had no issues.

The entertainment was less than we are used to on RC. However, the Comedy Club concept was just being introduced and was wonderful. We had comedians during the week and 3 out of 4 were really good.

As you can tell we have cruised with RC quite often. We prefer RC to Carnival. You should try a new line and then you will know for sure.

Unfortunately, it sounds like many lines have made cutbacks which can change any perception of a cruise line or a ship.

Good luck with your choice. I hope this helps.

Just wondering your thoughts on this ship, entertainment, food and overall of this ship. I'm not sure to stay with Carnival or move on to RC. Thanks

We just finished a cruise on the Carnival Pride. We took the cruise to relax, and we had a great time. This was our second time on the Pride and our 18th cruise. We've been to Nassau & Freeport a few times before, so we didn't get off of the ship. The price was under $400 for the Veranda cabin, the food was good, we didn't go to the shows, but we did spend some time in the casino. Our cabin steward and waiters were very nice, and we were especially happy that we missed a snow storm while we were away.

We've cruised with Celebrity, RCCL, NCL and Cunard, and we've enjoyed most. Your cruise will be what you make of it. Whatever you choose, have a great cruise vacation!!!

We took the Pride this past November. Honestly, it wasn't to our liking at all. Most sea days there wasn't much to do. The passengers were pretty much on their own for entertainment. They had karaoke pretty much day and night to keep people occupied. It was always held in what we deemed to be the "haunted mansion room". Creepy, dark, and just plain ugly.

We have never seen a ship have so many closed bars. There is a bar outside of the dining room that would be mobbed by people waiting to get in there to eat. There were two nights were out there at the bar and were given last call at 7pm. Who closes a full bar at 7pm? Some of the bars had one bartender working them and they were swamped. We stood waiting at times 20 min for a drink.

The ship to us was like a ghost town. It wasn't as vibrant or busy or pretty much anything close to the NCL ships we have sailed. The entertain lacked. We saw there would be 70s trivia at the piano bar one night. We were excited as the piano bar was never open. We get there at 630 to get a seat for the 7pm start. We notice the piano is indeed covered and the bar is closed in there. At 7pm sharp the CD comes breezing in with a boombox, hands us all paper and pencils. He plays 20 clips of songs and we were to guess the name of song and band. It was over in 10 min and he quickly yelled out who got 20 right? Someone said they got 15 right. He asks anyone get higher. And most were still counting. He then said ok folks its been fun! And he left. LOL We all kind of sat there like wth was that? What happened to using the piano. LOL WAs totally lame. Everyone in there thought it was bad.

The nightclub wasn't open every night which we thought odd. We ended up in the casino more then we usually do as there wasn't much going on.

We had no issues with passengers. All seemed nice as any other cruise we have been on. Maybe since the Pride is older we felt it severly lacking. There is only one special restaurant, David's, which because the dining room was sooooo slow we ended up in Davids the rest of the cruise. High marks for Davids! Was awesome.

This was the first cruise we were happy to come home from. Relieved actually. We vowed to never take another CC again and we won't. Different strokes. We did both get free cruise offers last week. My husband took great joy in shredding them. LOL

I know there are tons that love CCL and thats great. Glad there are plenty of options for all of us!

As you can see from my signature, I've been on Pride several times. DH and I kinda think of her as "our ship". But Carnival's cutbacks have gotten to be so frequent and widespread that DH and I decided to try RCI. We really liked Grandeur of the Seas (sailing out of Baltimore - the same port as Carnival Pride).

As for live entertainment, Grandeur is far better than Pride. Pride has a DJ now on the Lido Deck, but Grandeur still has the live Caribbean band on the Pool Deck, as well as more and varied live entertainment throughout the ship.

Carnival is cutting back big time on the main theatre evening show quality as well. On our Grandeur cruise, among many other fabulous acts, we saw Donovan & Rebecca (America's Got Talent, Guiness World Record, etc.) - Google them, they are amazing!

I like Pride (and Carnival). My upcoming cruise is on Pride (because friends are booked). But I definitely prefer Grandeur (and RCI).

I've sailed on the Pride 3 times & have a 4th booked. I've also been on RCCL & HAL. I don't have more complaints over one than the others. I choose based on itinerary rather than ship.

I think there adding guys, blue iguana. I like the looks of the ship but I find RC provides a wow factor from what I've heard.

My only wow on RCCL was the fact that the mixologist went to the chef to get Ginger so that they could make a drink on their menu. (Which really shouldn't be a "wow" because if it is on your menu it should be available.) Meanwhile, while on the RCCL cruise, there were things that I missed from Carnival.

I was on the same sailing & while I enjoyed the Aerial shows in the Centrum & one of the bands that played in the Centrum, I totally did not see any of the shows in the main theater & I don't hang out on the pool deck. I left that cruise thinking that I probably would not return to RCCL unless the price/timing/itinerary was right. As a matter of fact, I booked another Pride cruise within days of the end of our RCCL cruise.

(If you like Sushi, the offering on RCCL was great! It only looks so-so based on the menus that I've seen on Carnival.)

When you book for the interenary not for the ship, what's the next things you look at?

Length & new to me ports. I chose my last cruise because it was 10 nights & went to Tortola.

I chose my next cruise because it is 14 nights & goes to Costa Rica & Panama.

I chose my Alaska cruise based on the fact that it was a round trip out of Vancouver, Canada. (If you leave out of Seattle there is more time in rough seas & if you get a 1 way then there is the added hassle of air transportation to one place & from another.)

For all of stuff involved in planning & packing, I will "always" choose a longer over a shorter cruise.

Not a single negative about the Pride. Chef is fantastic as is service. Never had a problem getting a drink. Always a bartender or bar available. Decor is, well interesting but then again I wasn't to worried about the inside artwork when you had HMC and Grand Turk to look at.
