Benjudas Posted February 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2014 Hei, Just booked a cruise on the Epic. 22 June, deck 13, B4 cabin for myself and my daughter (7yo) Coincidence really that we went with the Epic. I showed my daughter a bunch of pictures of various ships on the net and she picked out the one with the coolest water slides. I read something about the largest casino afloat so done deal! I said yes and booked right away. On this board here now just to learn more about the ship and I must say there is alot of good info. It's my first cruice but I am not new to cruice ships. I worked on Seabourn Spirit 1995-96 and Radisson Diamond 1996 - 97. Hard to compare...this is a huge ship and those two was 10000 and 20000 tons. And on this one I will be the guest :) I cant wait for my vacation, will be following this board to see what good info I can pick up

garycarla Posted February 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2014 We have been on the Spirit. You will find mass market cruising considerably different. As you can see, we love it, but nothing like the 5* or better ships.
Tachikoma Posted February 19, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) My first cruise was on the Epic in February 2011 for our first anniversary. Your daughter chose well as the water slides are awesome! I really enjoyed the ship and had the time of my life. Let me think of a few tips: - If you attend the Cirque Dreams show, make sure to eat your dinner before they take it away. I was too busy watching the show and they had to take my meal away to present the dessert. :( - The water slide lines are shorter early, at meal times, and on port days. - I enjoyed the complimentary Taste restaurant a lot more than the Manhattan Room (main dining room). O'Sheehan's was fun for drinks and appetizers. Late evening snacks at Spice H20 were my favorite. Dessert crepes in the Garden Cafe (buffet) were so yummy. - I enjoyed ordering the breakfast room service to arrive at 8am as it got me out of bed early. - People like to complain about the cabin bathrooms. We did not find a problem with these at all. There is a curtain you can close over the bathroom area if you are concerned about the privacy. - On sea days, I recommend finding a chair by the pool as early as possible as they fill up quick. I learned a lot from this board and studying the deck plans also helped me. I hope you have just as much fun as we had on the Epic! We sailed on The Radisson Diamond in 2000 (missed you by a couple of years) That was a very interesting ship :). Enjoy your cruise.
