American Express reward points

Have you ever used the American Express reward points to book a cruise? If so, how easy/hard was it? And how many points did you have to use?

We never have actually booked a trip with our AMEX points but I've done the research. If you plan to do this, you'll be using American Express Travel as your TA, and they don't generally offer better perks/bonuses as other TA's might.

 

I just logged onto my AMEX account and did a dummy booking for the Getaway this October. The point conversion value was 5,000 pts = $37.50. (5,000 pts is the minimum allowed to use).

 

If you used 200,000 pts, this will pay for $1,500 on your cruise.
