We are sailing jan 31 2015 on the ruby. We have never had to have VISA,s before when cruising. Does any one have info on these such as can we get a temporary tourist one rather than 5yr? We are Canadian . Any help would be great!!

Here is some good info. It looks like they only offer a 5-year tourist visa.

I went on HAL's Amazon Explorer and had to get the 5 year visa. I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to take advantage of it again before I need a new passport but I just looked at it as the cost of enjoying the trip so much.

The cruise line will check and refuse embarkation if you do not have one.

Your visa is good for the full term, no matter what passport it is stamped in. You would bring both passports to show at passport control, one for validity of the passport and one for validity of the visa. A bit cumbersome, but workable.

Hope you get an opportunity to try it out to see more of marvelous Brazil.
