I've cruised Disney as a single and have two more Disney cruises booked for this year (Sept and New Year's). I love it. I'm not into the party atmosphere of some of the other cruise lines and Disney offers me the kind of entertainment I enjoy. The presence of multitudes of little folks don't bother me, as a matter of fact it's sometimes fun to watch the kids and their reactions to the Disney characters. There are plenty of places and opportunities to have "alone" or "adult" time.

I've also cruised on RCI (bad luck with cards and the casino does me in), but I prefer Disney. I haven't tried Carnival 'cuz it seems to be more of a "spring break" at sea.

Any other single Disney cruisers out there? Single parents cruising?

I'm going on my first cruise, Disney style, February, taking my teenagers, so basically I'll be alone most of the time. :) Anything in particular I should check out? I like people, and just meeting people. Any recommendations if I don't always want to be alone? It's nice to know I'm not the only "single" person out there who enjoys the Disney atmosphere. Thanks for sharing.

Solome - I'm not a real fount of information on the subject. I'm very much a "people watcher" so I spend a lot of time on the open decks (9 & 10) just checking out the crowd. Most of my social interactions have either been there (especially the open bar areas or the tables alongside the family pool) or in the dining room at dinner time. Another opportunity to meet people would be on the excursions. Just about anywhere on the ship is a good place to strike up a conversation. I can't speak about the bars below decks 'cuz I just don't spend any time there (unless there's a 60's-70's-80's disco/show thing going on!).

If you are seriously interested in finding someone to share the cruise experience with you might check out the embarkation photos at Shutters for other solo or single-parent travelers and then keep an eye out for them around the ship. There may also be a singles meet-n-greet set up somewhere on the first night, check out the Navigator on the first day and see if there is something for the singles.

Have a great time on your cruise!

Thank you Bill, for your ideas. I hadn't thought of a meet-n-greet or anything organized of us social outcasts (pun intended). But that's a great idea. I'm definitely interested in being social. I also scuba dive so I figured I might meet people there as well. I just don't want to be alone ALL the time. Thanks again.;)
