Snorkling Weight Restrictions

I was looking at some St. Thomas snorkeling excursions and noticed that they have weight restrictions on snorkling now. Any idea what that restriction is?

If they supply snorkel vests - they have weight restrictions. I had to buy one which is good for OVER 250 lbs for my DH. Some only go to 200#'s etc.

As a fairly plus size person, I can honestly say I've had problems getting back on some boats. One of the most embarrassing things that ever happened to me was when two men had to get behind me and push on my butt to get me up a very short ladder. I can just imagine the view they had.

 

I do ok with the ones with stairs that go down into the water.

Forgot to mention that I assume because I am quite large, I float so well in salt water I don't think I could drown if I wanted to.
