I do have travel insurance. I'm not a wealthy man especially after paying for weddings and cruise. I'm 57 years if age. I Spoke with my TA . My TA spoke with NCL, there are other people on my flight that are going on the same cruise. NCL is fully aware of us and the tight schedule. NCL is providing my transfer to the ship. Nothing else I can do except hope for the best. Thanks!

I have occasionally biked/ran inside the Port Of Miami and I have noticed

that many passengers were still boarding at about 3:00PM’ish, but never later for a 400PM departure cruise. The Epic is docked first at the Port Of Miami and leaves before 500PM.

In actuality, many people do board between 200PM – 300PM in order to avoid the noon rush. As long as your flight arrives in Miami by 100PM, you fly

with your luggage and you immediately secure a taxi, then you “”should’’ be OK…

The cab ride from MIA to the Port, even with traffic, is under 30 minutes.

I really think too many people here are getting overly upset.

It is not the BEST decision, but it is one that many people do each and every week. . Again, not the best decision, but we have seen worse here.

Leave the poor guy alone! (how many of us thought it was the bride posting?)

On a related note, we have seen people boarding during the muster drill before. Somehow some latecomers still make it.

To the op........

When I posted earlier today, I did not realize that you were getting married the day prior to the cruise and that it was your honeymoon.

I apologize on not reading your entire post correctly.

If I were you, I would use this fact as your biggest asset. No one in their right mind wants to see newlyweds miss their honeymoon and you should let everyone along the way know this fact. You and your bride should flash your wedding rings to the check in person at the airport, and then to the steward on the plane. When you land in Mia, again to the gate agent when you get off the ramp, and to the agent in the airport who works for NCL, letting everyone along the way know that you are on your honeymoon and a tight schedule to catch the ship.

This will help move you along to get on the ship.

You should be fine.

Good luck with the wedding and have a glass of champagne for me.

Howard

Sorry I didn't see the post that the OP was getting married the day before before I posted my post!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding ... but can you take the last flight out of Boston for Miami?

We got married during day, had reception in the evening and left all at 11pm to go to airport to catch the midnight red-eye flight to London.

They threw confetti over us (LOTS) as we departed the house - and some of it ended up on the plane toilet floor - hee hee.

I was so tired that I passed out for 2 hours. When I woke up we continue drinking good cheer to our marriage!

Great memories - over 27 years ago! We left the others to finish the party and to clean up. Hee hee.

It's on the SUNDAY so will take about 20 mins.

GOOD LUCK!

Last year while we were in the middle of the muster drill, a group of about 20 people boarded and all looked like they had been rushing to get on the ship. One of the crew members asked a couple of the people if they had a late flight and the passengers confirmed that there was a delay but the awesome NCL people "held the ship" for them... we left on time, but I'm guessing that since the people at the pier knew the group/flight was delayed, they made arrangements to let them board after the cutoff.

Good luck OP and congrats on the wedding! Enjoy your honeymoon!

But please remember, a verbal promise ain't worth the paper it ain't written on.

The ship sails at the command of the ship's captain--he is the ultimate authority on such decisions and not a customer service rep. at NCL.

Your wedding is going to happen successfully due to care, advanced planning and organization. Apparently, your getting on the cruise on time will not. Because of one careless TA, this could turn into an episode of "I Love Lucy" where she was left on the docks. Believe me, no one will be laughing over your Million Dolllar experience becoming a Million Dollar Disaster. Save yourself from a worthless gamble on your nerves.

You know about Murphy's Law.

Another thing I would do is make sure you each have a carry on with as much in it as possible, just in case any or all of your suitcases should get misplaced/lost. When we cruise, we always each have our own carry on with a couple change of clothes, undies, swimsuit, and small toilitries to tide us over for a couple days. . . . just in case.

I am not going to comment on your flight issue, because I can see you've gotten plenty of opinions on that! I am going to piggy-back on debshomespun, though, and suggest that you cross-pack your suitcases. Put half of your stuff and half of your future wife's stuff in each suitcase. This way, juuuuuuust in case one suitcase makes it, but not the other, you'll both have a decent amount of clothes with you :)

Good luck with the wedding and have a great honeymoon!

  • 3 weeks later...

Everything went fantastically! Wedding was great, Our flight left on-time. and arrived earlier than scheduled by a few minutes. We were greeted at the baggage claim area by NCL and escorted to our bus, to the pier. We went through security and then we were issued our cabin key card and were on the ship within 20-30 minutes after arriving. The EPIC staff, crew,Spa cabin, entertainment, food, was Fantastic! I rated 5 stars! Thanks for all of your help CC'er's. I already put a deposit on our next cruise, but will stay in the port one night ahead of departure!
