hamrag Posted February 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Okay guys & gals, we are on the Jade this coming May. Here are our stops along the way; what would you say are the "Must Sees or do's" at each of these? We have an idea of what we want to do but any insight you guys have are appreciated. Thanks! ROME, ITALY - Coloseum & Forum; Trevi Fountain; St Peter's Vatican NAPLES/POMPEII, ITALY - Pompeii will be full day. If not doing that, then Amalfi Coast or CapriMESSINA, ITALY - Taormina KOTOR, MONTENEGRO - Simple walk off from port into Kotor, which is a "mini Dubrovnik". A highlight is the sail in/out from Adriatic Sea to Kotor, the channel (like a fjord) is about an hour and beautifully scenic. SPLIT, CROATIA - There are some ancient artefacts in town, and pleasant enough. Easy walk off from port. KOPER, SLOVENI - Koper is fine, but not memorable. So if looking for a rest and lighter port, this is the one. VENICE, ITALY - St Marks Square, and everything around it, including bridge of sighs and Doges Place; Grand Canal including Rialto Bridge. Sail in/out of Venice absolutely not to be missed. Comments included above in your original post. We have done this itinery on Jade, it is a fantastic cruise....enjoy! sayaguru Posted February 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Naples- We had been to Pompeii before so went to the Isle of Capri. LOVED it. Do it yourself. Cheaper and you get a whole day. Get to the pier early and get the first ferry over (8am??). Book the over and return time). Go straight to the top (bus, lift) then workyour way down. Later it takes a long time due to crowds. Great views, nice little shops. Then we did the boat around the island. Check the return times so you don't miss it). A very enjoyable day. AquamarineBreeze Posted March 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2014 Messina - skip the city itself and, as another poster said, do Taormina for its historical sites and shopping! If you do, be sure to try a granita - Italian ice - lemon, coffee and strawberry have such amazing, real flavors. Lots of hand made jewelry and ceramics too. OR... :-) my favorite...See if there are any excursions climbing Mount Etna! Wow :) Enjoy!

Arubamoose Posted March 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 4, 2014 ROME, ITALY - The Vatican, Trevi Fountain, the Coloseum, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps. That is just a small sampling. Hopefully you will be there more than a day to enjoy this absolutely wonderful city. NAPLES/POMPEII, ITALY - Last time we took the train to Pompeii on our own. Very easy. This time we are going to Caserta to see the Royal Palace - said to rival Versaille. MESSINA, ITALY - joining a tour to Taormina and other cities. KOTOR, MONTENEGRO - last time we took a sail on the Monty B. Check Trip Advisor. Wonderful day. This time we will just walk around and maybe take a short boat ride to the Church. SPLIT, CROATIA - planning on just touring the ciry KOPER, SLOVENI - joining a tour to Lake Bled VENICE, ITALY - St. Marks Square, a gondola ride (my DH owes me one this time), a vaporetto ride to Murano, wandering the 'streets' and getting lost.
