Rubeng724 Posted February 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2014 1) 6 Night Western Caribbean Cruise Ship: Independence of the Seas Visits: - Falmouth, Jamaica - Georgetown, Grand Cayman - Labadee, Haiti Departure Port: Fort Lauderdale, Florida Date: December 14-20, 2014 Price: $3,512 (2 Inside, Family of 8) 2) 7 Night Bahamian Cruise Ship: Serenade of the Seas Visits: - Nassau, Bahamas - Key West, Florida - CocoCay, Bahamas Departure Port: New Orleans, LA Date: December 13-20, 2014 Price: $3,666 (2 Inside, Family of 8) I prefer Option 1 because... - Bigger, Better Ship (In My Opinion) - Better Ports - Better Price I prefer Option 2 because... - Better Length (Yes, 1 night makes a BIG difference) - Better Departure Port (New Orleans is about a 10 hour hour drive compared to 22 to Florida-we will be driving) So, which one do you think is a better deal? Thanks!
Morecruisesplz Posted February 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2014 #2 will BECOME the better deal because the price will come down quite a bit IMHO. Watch for price drops!
At Sea 4Ever Posted February 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Option 2 in my opinion is better. And yes one night does make a huge difference! Lol Sent from my iPad using Forums
readytolose Posted February 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) Option 1 Better Ship Better ports I'm assuming family of 8 means there will be children. They will LOVE Independence! Edited February 25, 2014 by readytolose

Darkwolfe Posted February 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2014 I just did the drive for option #2 from Missouri. I'd not want to do that 22hour run for a 6 day at all. Go down with a day extra to nose around NOLA and get a park and cruise option at one of the hotels (We were at the Prytania Park in the Garden district). Park the car and leave it. Use the streetcars to run around a bit. Don't take the kids on Bourbon street but other than that, enjoy the Quarter. Just my .02. :D
Topo Gigio Posted February 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2014 What about option #3 Navigator out of galveston? I love Serenade, but for kids I think a Voyager (especially Navigator) or a Freedom Class is a better fit.
JoeRum Posted February 25, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Went to Nassau and Coco Cay last year. We ended up back on the ship in short order. I would go with the Western Caribbean in a heart beat. We did a set ski tour to Sting Ray city and starfish beach in Grand Cayman with Ebanks watersports. We had a great time. It was the highlight of our western cruise!
